Regan,

You are right, the Ryobi works great for basic stuff. I have used it with a template on the sides and making blocking etc.

i would like to use the router to cut out oval cabinet doors to make the interior storage cabinets (like the Camp-Inn). Oddly, Ryobi does not make and adapter for guide bushings for this router and so I am faced with either changing my plans or buying a new router that accepts guide bushings. Another option is the universal plate and bushings. I may try to adapt a plate to the router. Then I would be very happy with it.

Hi Drew,
I guess I just don't understand the need for the guide bushings.
I very seldom use mine preferring to use template bits with built in bearing guides.
Cheers

Guide collars allow you to set the depth of cut to what ever you want, whereas a bearing bit is a fixed length with very little range to make adjustment (especially when using thin ply as template).

and use a whiteside bushing. they come with a centering pin.

I also laminated the inside panels on my sides. I am all ready to cut out the door holes and then the sides will be ready to mount! I am still able to get things done but am really starting to need the trailer. already about $700 in so no turning back now!

Lol,
Thanks KC, I understand and use bushings quite often.
I just don't see a need for Drew to have to buy a baseplate and set of bushings for anything we are doing here, and was just pointing that out.

Drew,
Be aware that the Rockler base plate has a 1-1/4" hole for bushings, where the bushings for Porter Cable, Dewalt, Hitachi etc use a 1-3/16" bushing.
They even show it with their 1-3/16" bushing kit which is confusing, not sure if they offer both sizes or not.
Most woodworking stores have universal baseplates that you can drill for your router, and harbour freight has a cheap set of bushings that would work fine.

Too bad they don't having baseplates, lol!

I purchased that exact same plate and bushing set from Rockler. They work together correctly and I am happy with them.

I am glad you guys have my back. Thanks!

BTW, here is where I will be next week, although I hope to be underwater most of the time. One of the big reasons I am building my teardrop is so I can go diving/camping.

yes, totally, but you know I haven't had a f&*g vacation for 4 years! Only problem is I may never come back. If I don't, anyone who is close by can come and claim my plywood!
