Not yet as soon as I get the windows mounted I can drag it to the scales and get a weight.

Little update... Got the windows both installed and sealed up. I had to build a trim ring for the pass side door since it didnt come with one. Also re-secured my walls... I found out through my first trip with it my mounting idea didnt work. I had my own idea of securing the walls setting them on top of the floor and securing with 16 3" L brackets and four 3/4" screws in each one. Well after the bumpy road conditions I lost most of the screws and made the ride home a little unnerving. So I fixed that by adding a 2x2 with cartridge bolts through the walls and roofing screws into the floor.

Took the tear out for the weekend on a little 2 hour drive. And found out my fenders rub... O well good to find out now before I painted them... Also at some point it looks like I bent a rim as it wobbled like crazy! I also installed a fan in the vent at the last minute but turns out I installed it the wrong way so it was pushing air out, easy fix.

So I do have a question for those that have built their own hatch. How much does your hatch flex? I feel mine has too much flex. If I held it on one side I think it would sag maybe two inches on the other side. I staggered my cross braces and everything is pocket drilled.

I started with the simple cleat and an alternate style of l bracket. And now have the 2x2 cross drilled which seams much more secure

Did you use construction adhesive to glue the cleat in? How about between the edge of the wall and the deck? That would really take care of it, with the fasteners being there just to pull the joint tight while the adhesive sets up.

No glue. Would that help the flex?

Screws actually weaken the wood by disturbing the fibers. With nothing but the screws to hold the walls to the floor (or any other joint) the loads from bouncing and flex will quickly tear the screws from the wood fibers.

Now if you use an appropriate construction adhesive (or for nice tight cabinet joints, a wood glue), you get a much stronger bond because the loads are spread over a much greater area, which helps to stabilize the joint and keep relative motion from busting everything apart.

"Glue and Screw" is the mantra; just do it.

Built a rack for the kayak Friday and took it to the ocean for a night. Worked out nice, but I had to remove my fenders cause they rub. Saving up for some nice rims....
