Thanks, here's a shot of the reinforcement of the soft brass coupling. I thought it was safer this way. Anything kicked back to the pipe now has some solid steel protecting the brass. I could see the brass being sheared off at the black pipe without some type of shield.

Franklin is a great guy & very good welder. Nice to have a handy friend with a back-yard shop & metal working skills.

Good idea and I like your bright black paint job. My pipes are rusting already. I need to coat them one warm winter or spring day.

Not much progress to report. I've figured out how to stow the cutting board for travelling. I wanted a bigger counter space, so I found a plastic cutting board which covers the top of the stove when the top is folded down. It makes the entire counter a work space, but I don't want it flopping around while travelling or sliding & bouncing over bumps. I don't want to fasten the cutting board permanently to the stove.
160234

After looking at things for a while, I realized that there was an ideal space next to the stove. The drawer guide sits on a 1/2" birch cleat, which fastens to the wall. The cutting board is 1/2" thick, hmmmm? After cutting down the cutting board to fit on top of the stove, it will slide into the space between the stove, below the counter top & next to the wall. I made a cleat to hold the back edge in place, once it's slid into the stowed position.
160236

The front corner flops around if I'm moving & needs some sort of stop, so I used a piece of the off-cut board, a slice of diamond plate & a couple of screws to make a gravity "keeper." It holds the board in place while moving. It works!
160235

A friend is working on curtains for us. Simple setup with two screw-eyes, a bungie cord & some dark green material which hangs over the top edges of the doors. Will post a few pictures once the curtains are made.

Other than that, not much going on. Winter break time for now & the job is draining me at work (very long week with too much drama), so I'm taking it easy for a while. Thanks for looking. tim

P.S. First batch of cookies is now complete & eaten, about a week ago, but figured it's best to document the progress....

Those are great first batch cookies and neat ideas Tim. I noticed in my build that it takes a lot of time to come up with a new decent idea. Much, much more time than actual building.
Thanks for sharing

Been a while since I've posted to the build thread, so here's one more picture. Skinned the inside of the hatch this morning, tested the third brake lamp wiring first to make sure it will work. Need to hook up the adapter module still on the inside, then all the lights are done. Here's how it looks now.
160238

Cabinet doors & drawer heads still needed, install the air conditioner, then it's "nearly" done. Thanks for looking. tim

Thanks guys, here's a couple more. Did some trim on the panel this morning. Used flat stock on the straight edges & some rolled edge stuff with vinyl insert, because the 1/8" skin didn't pull tight enough & would have shown a gap with the thin stuff. Upside down & backwards as usual, but it should be OK.

Wide lens makes for distortion, but it looks better than the picture.

Nice.

Why not just use the insert trim molding for it all? Would the lip interfere? Maybe trim the lip off?

I had this stuff left over & the 1/8" panel left a few gaps on the inside of the curve when I sprung it into place yesterday. Figured I would use the larger flange to cover the gaps & make the edge look better. I had enough for both, so I used the thin stuff on the top & bottom, then used the bigger stuff for the curves. Not my first choice, but it worked out well enough & looks pretty nice as long as you don't think about it too much. All's well the ends well.

The 3rd brake light is installed, wired & working, finished it this morning. The last wiring is done now. Finally 100%!

160243

Doors, drawer heads & air conditioning are still left, but another thing is crossed off the list. Camped out in the driveway this weekend for some good sleeping. My buddy, Joe, stopped by yesterday morning to see the build. We had coffee & made sweet rolls in the oven as a treat. A guy I've known for about 35 years. Time passes so quickly. We were talking about tats, hardware & the sun did this on his face, so I figured this is as close as we will get to doing it ourselves. He was pleased with how it turned out, since he hadn't seen it in over a year.....
