Another Saturday in the books. More planning, figuring and spending money on materials! We're currently working on the built-in's; fridge, hot water heater and one of my favorite things so far... the pantry! Here's the fridge area going together:

With the wall face:

Shelves going together for the pantry:

We designed the pantry to slide on ball bearing sliders with soft close. It will hide in the wall :

And slid out:

That's it for now!

The arches really tie back into your overall theme, and the pantry should keep everything in place well while underway. Bravo! :applause:

Thanks KC! We decided almost last minute to carry the archtops into the cabin. Without doors it seems almost drastic. But I think once the doors are installed they will blend in nicely. Storage in the cabin is at a premium, so I'm thinking the slide-out pantry will really help the situation.

Michael, nice job on the millwork. It looks like a good design & should give you plenty of storage space. I'm wondering if there will be a top-mounted guide, bracket or tracking "stabilizer" to keep the play out of the unit during travel & when it's being pulled in & out? As tall as it is, there might be a bit of fore & aft play in there somewhere.

There are 3 pair of 24" ball bearing, soft close slides that it operates on. According to spec's, 2 pair should suffice. But we're doing 3 pair, one each side on the top, center and bottom of the shelving.

Michael, that is a fancy design with the slide out pantry, I was not expecting that
Now what is going to be located above the fridge, a wardrobe space?
You are putting a lot of labor and character into this baby, great work my friend.

Thank you Oleg! Yes the space above the fridge will be a closet. I'm picking up the cedar for it today. Below the fridge is a drawer. It's surprising how much the slide out pantry will hold!

Here's a question for the pro finishers out there. I am spraying most all of the birch with moisture proof lacquer. But I have a couple of areas such as the pantry that I was unable to spray prior to assembly. So I need something quick-drying, brush-able that has a finish that isn't heavy. Thoughts or suggestions?

I brushed spar urethane on all of my birch and it worked pretty well. In the summer heat it took about an hour to dry between coats, and I applied 3 coats, wet sanding with 400 grit between them. About 6 hours after the last coat it was dry enough to handle however you wanted.

Hi Michael,

I'm certainly not in the professional category, but I'd take a look at Emtech EM9300 - https://www.targetcoatings.com/product/emtech-em9300-wb-exterior-polycarbonate-urethane/.

I found out about this product on the forum and used it as a top coat over the epoxy on my tongue box. I applied it with a brush. It flowed well enough to not leave brush marks and somehow it did not run on the vertical surfaces. So far it has been very durable.

Take care,
Tom
