We went for a drive across the border on Sunday to pick up all of my ebay purchases for "Kermit" and enjoy our favorite Mexican Restaurant. :D
New parts inspired me spend most of the day out in the cold today prepping for the major cut.
And yes........it happened! There is no going back now!
Two of the three donor vehicles have now been "Cut"!
Kermit has "Shape".
I will take some pictures tomorrow in the daylight.
It was dark by time I finally fired up the plasma cutter.

Hi Brian,
I love It! :applause: The idea of re-using those amazing shapes and turning them into something worthwhile instead of leaving them to rust away. I do agree that in some cases that it is a shame not to restore them to their former glory, but it is not as though these were complete mostly original or extremely rare examples.
Go for it amaze us again.
By the way, a friend of mine has an Austin A30 and has been at me for a couple of years to build him a trailer to take camping with it. He is wanting to use the back end off a couple of A30s. Not for sleeping in but just to carry their camping gear. We picked up a car a few months ago and he is trying to track down a second one. Problem is most of them have been too rusty.

Thanks for the support Frank
The sun is out and we are above freezing today (Kermit is still outside as I have no room in my shop right now) so I hope to get a more cutting in today. Love to have the front sheet metal (38 Plymouth rear) fitted, so that my friends can see the picture that is in my head.
We are having our car club's Fall Garage tour tomorrow, so there will be 30 or more guys showing up at my shop to have a look!
And I Love the A30 idea. We did not get A30's in Canada so I have only seen a handful in my life (they were imported to the USA) we got A40's and A50"s. I have had both, as well as an A90 ( 49 Dorset, 56 A90, & 57 A50 before switching to Austin Mini's).
GO FOR IT!

Thanks Norm
It looks almost exactly like my 1962 Westfalia, which is also an all steel trailer about the same size.

Finally.......a glimpse of what the body will sort of look like when I get it fitted and welded together. 126606126609
Remember there is still a third body to be added to the mix! 1949 International KB1 pickup cab.

Hi Brian,
that is looking really good. Those two bodies look like they were meant to be fitted together like that. :D
As the rear axle is fairly well back, what sort of weight are you aiming to have on the hitch?
Boy that looks cold there, we never get any of that stuff around here. We are just starting to warm up it has been 24 here today but that is Celsius.

Thanks Frank
By the way we use Celsius here too! Today will be + 7 so the white stuff will be gone by the end of the day. But -9 on Saturday as a high.
Wish we were in NZ.
Where the wheels are sitting in the pictures is not where they will sit. Rear end is sitting on a couple of 4x4's just o move it around.
The wheels will be moved forward at least 8" to 10" from where you see them.
I have a set of 47 Pontiac Convertible rear fenders that are about 4" longer than the Chev fenders.
So I will match the rear to the body which will move the wheel well forward! Yes, every inch takes off tongue weight and that is important to me on this build  ..... as Miss Piggy has 210 lbs of tongue weight, and I am not as young as I used to be ( so it is a bit of a grunt sometimes to move her around)
Thanks for following my build!
Hope to get it inside before winter really sets in! :frightened:

Are you going to smooth out the sweep on the dodge, or add that line to the fleetline?
Looks like your access will be bigger then Miss Piggy, doors look nice and big.

Looking good
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is
