Our new/old 1966 Scotty Project

Postby Jst83 » Sat Apr 18, 2015 6:17 pm

Just pulled this home an hour and a half, pulled really well for having sat in the weeds for years.
Can't really start working on this one until I get the one done that's in the garage I'm building for a friend but luck would have it someone at work gave me a pop up yesterday Image so I'll have something to camp in this summer and sell it off next summer for a 100% profit so it's a win win

Not sure of the year as it came to me title less but I'm thinking mid to late 60's

Thank you Dan yes lots of work/fun

OK lots of views no comments maybe that should scare me a little
So how does one tell the year I've narrowed it down to 66-68 by looking at pictures, it's 10' long.

Believe me I've been spending a lot of time surfing that sight and looking at pictures and rebuilds, this one's gonna have to go to the frame and back up. Sunday it was raining inside the camper until I threw a tarp over it. I ordered a custom Scotty cover fo it that should be here this week that will keep it safe until rebuild time.

i love it! Working on one almost identicle! I will be watching any/every thing ya do, with great interest! My serial number was on drivers side frame rail, on the top, 5 inches toward rear from tongue jack post. Mine is a '65, (and there is a 5 in that number. versus 4,6,7,) Please do show photos! One question. In the photo after the door image, the interior shot. What is the bar that extends from the "kitchen" cabinate to the ceiling? These are the only two times Ive seen it used, (I've looked at tons) I doubt its the identicle thing added by po's. (Hang clothes?) Dave

My Vin number is in the same place but someone in history welded a propane holder over it, I could make out the first 3 or 4 numbers to know it's a 66 13',.
Not really sure about the bar myself don't think it'll be in the rebuild, it has the original canvas bunk in it don't know if it has anything to do with the bar. I think we're keeping the canvas bunk just for looks and maybe to carry things on while travelling.

Yes I'll keep pictures coming as I know the feeling looking at lots of pictures while researching. The http://www.nationalserroscotty.org site is the best

Well the last of the skins have been removed and the roof is in view now, still not as bad I I was expecting from looking at it from inside.

And the roof is coming off so we can get a look at what's really hiding under 50 years of time.

First wall comes off, it's held together by a ton of staples I don't know how it's held up for 50 years

Finally down to the frame, found some friends under the flooring when I tore it up :frightened:
