So I finished the rear of the TT. All electric, insulation, and sheathing. Next week when I get help I'll put the roof on. Meanwhile, maybe, I can finish up the electric for the bulkhead and galley.

Great choice in music & good job on the installation. Favorite album of his is still Highway 61.

Thanks Noseoil. You're right Highway 61 stands the test of time.

The stereo has a place to put a SD chip, so I loaded 4000 "classic rock" songs. Also takes CDs and USB chip.
On the USB chip I put Books and Podcasts. I like the micro chips.

It has a remote but is also is smart phone controlled.

So today my buddy Jim came over to help me put the roof on the TT. We laid out the tin and cut it to approximate length and wide.

Question: how many router bits have others gone through on a project like this? I went through 3. The third one is still good, but three?
The aluminum started to clog and pile up in front of router bits. Is there an easier way?

I pre-trimmed my aluminum (.040") to within 1/8" of the edge so it wouldn't clog the bit. Just needed one to do the entire build. Keep the bearing oiled & cut the smallest amount possible or it can heat up & turn into a mess.

I've read on here that some guys use a speed controller to slow down the router on the router to help stop the aluminum from clogging the bit up. Harbor Freight has them.
Is your aluminum the stuff they use on semi trailers? What thickness is it? Sorry for all the questions but I'm getting closer to doing my aluminum. Thanks

Thanks That was the answer. Cutting less aluminum and going slow, Prefect!! You are the best, dude.

Elm. Trimming it close before routing was the answer. The aluminum that I used is the stuff for tractor trailer roofs. It is .040 or .041. I don't think that 1/1000 of an inch makes much of a difference for this application. i bought it from a trailer repair company for $15 a running foot and its 102" wide. Good luck on your build.

Thank you so much. Its nice to know that some one is watching and keeping me on the straight and narrow. (My wife will be so happy)
I was starting to think, since I hear so seldom from anyone, that maybe its useless to post. I have received so much good info from this
site that I wanted to pay it forward. I retired 6 years ago and am lucky to have some retired friends that come over and help me with the
tougher parts of the build. The problem with that is I pay them in beer, after the work is done. Rather pricey with these boys.

Its raining here today so I'll put together the Pics from yesterdays work and post later. Going shopping with wife, kids and grandsons. Maybe do some electrical work when I get back. I have found, that the way I have things wired from last week are not working for me. Like the radio not working unless I'm plugged to shore power. I don't care if the TV doesn't work when I'm not plugged in, it probably uses a lot of power and would drain the battery quickly. So I'll install this and it will solve my problems. Plus inside and out of the rain is a good thing.

Question: Now that I have the skin on, what do you do to protect the aluminum from from the environment or do I let it age naturally?

My favorite posts to watch are builds or rebuilds. Not having done either myself but really wanting to yet knowing I would probably never finish it I live the dream by watching others. Just have little to offer. Keep posting, can't wait to see the finish
