Aluminum ages naturally by forming a layer of "rust" or aluminum oxide on the surface. It's sort of dull looking on the surface when this happens.

The advantage aluminum has over steel is that the surface "rust" acts as a barrier layer to prevent any further oxidation from happening beneath it. Unless it's in a really harsh environment, it stops & reaches a stabilization of this oxide formation, which protects the metal under it from further damage. Great stuff!

Yes you are being watched and your doing great work so keep the pictures coming. What are you using for trim on the edge where your walls and roof meet.

After some advice from Noseoil ( this name brings on many thoughts)
I was able to cut out the hatch, lights and vent hole. I didn't realize that the MaxxairII had to be completely disassembled to install it. Through off my schedule for the day.
As you can see got a great pic of my finger with camera phone. First pic is a video.

Thank you all for the encouragement.

I have the original trim from the old trailer, it has to be scraped down and cleaned but it is all pre-bent in the shape I need. I will have to find a supplier of more trim, since I redesigned out the faults I found slightly changed the shape of the original trailer, I'll need a 3 Ft section to complete the job.

Got on it bright and early today. I measured up the cabinet doors, now I just have to make them. Battery was dead so I looked back at wiring. Realized that I wired battery circuit to circuit with no fuse. That didn't work well. Got the fuse box wired up and finished DC wires. AC needs one receptacle inside and thats done. I'll secure the rest of the wires in the morning.
I'm starting to get into the little $#!+ now, where its a lot of work and no big show.

Striped the marker lights off the fenders and sanded, primed and put one coat of paint on them. The battery issue is resolved. I have been researching radio antennas.
Does any one have a suggesting for an antenna, that wont put a hole in the beautiful alum skin I just put on?

Thanks ELM these are some of the antennas I've been looking at. I was wondering if any body has tried these?
Second coat of paint on fenders. They'll be ready to hang when I get back.

Also whats is the best way to apply the trim with butyl tape? Do I cover the sides and roof? Do I fill the small seam that was created by routing with chalk first? Someone?
Going back up to camp for another round of fishing. If I keep going fishing I'll never get this done. LOL

If I knew retirement was this much fun,
I would have done it at 21.

I know you said you didn't want to put any holes in the aluminum, but I used this outside-mounted antenna:

The design fits the retro nature of the teardrop. The antenna seals really well to the side - no leaks - and has great reception.
