Re: Pikes Peak Woody Build - First Outing

I'm back from my virgin trip with the TD. Colorado Springs to Moab, UT; approximately 400 miles one way. Worked great! Pulled behind my '73 FJ40 Land Cruiser just fine. I was worried that the 43 year old, whopping 94 HP motor wouldn't handle the extra weight, but she pulled just fine. The mountain passes were slooooow going but ultimately no issues. Surprisingly, my gas mileage did not suffer too much: 15.3 MPG on the way out and 14.7 on the way back. I already have a few changes in mind but they are more cosmetic than structural. I need more interior pockets for the cell phone, book, flashlight, etc. and curtains are in the near future. Galley has plenty of storage and works well ergonomically. Interior ventilation is more than adequate. Entertainment system worked like a champ. Overall, I'm really pleased with the way it came out! :D
