Got a little more done today. Epoxy should arrive by the weekend, and I hope to finish the floor and begin mounting walls by the end of next week.

Any recommendations on mounting LED lights on ceiling vs. walls? Also, where did you install you USB ports in cabin?

Take care,

Parker

Here's a couple of shots of what I did. Take a look through my build log to see how mine are done, but it's good to pre-wire things & test each circuit as you go, so there aren't problems later on. Run the wires, test & label. Then go to the next one.

Just noticed where you put your wheeled jack on the tongue. I've been having some difficulties with mine, and your solution is exactly what I needed. Thanks!

That guy is worthless when it comes to a build log (and I'm guessing washing dishes in camp). But does he really camp? How do we know he's not making this stuff up? He does have a couple of Youtubes of his alleged builds...

And he claims he's packing his truck and 'drop today for a trip to central Utah. Mumbling about some secret mini-grand canyon camp spot and musing about polygamists camping with six and seven-wide teardrops.

I got the walls glued and the insulation installed. This was a bit more time consuming than I anticipated. Let me know what you think. Little guy loves to help. ImageImageImageImage

I got some work done on the floor today. It's coated in epoxy and some Henry's 107. Insulation will be in place tomorrow, then I'll mount the floor the the trailer. I hope to start mocking up the walls this weekend. Wish me luck.

I finally got some more work done.

Do you guys/gals have a hard time deciding what to work on once you've finished the current "task"? With the walls constructed, I'm not sure where to go next.

I started the bulk head and will definitely mounting the walls this weekend. I plan on using PL at the seam between the floor and wall, and will screw the 1:8 "lip" to the floor frame. Would you recommend pocket screwing from the out side to the floor as well?

I look forward to hearing you thoughts!

I've also been tossing around the idea of some vinyl to add some originality.

Nice graphic. I wonder how it would look if the circle was shifted to the front. I think it might look more streamlined or racy that way.

As to what to work on next. In the beginning that takes a lot of thought because there are so many things that need to be done and many of them are dependent on each other, or a certain order. Whereas when you get closer to the end of the build things start to fall into place and there are fewer and fewer left.

My advice is to try and do as much as you can before the walls go on, then do as much as you can before putting the front wall and roof on. The more stuff that you can get done while access is still easy, the easier things will go. "Building a ship in a bottle" having to climb in and out 100 times and work in awkward positions is a time suck and can hurt quality.

I finally got the walls mocked up. They fit very well. I should have the door, window and all do the trim next week.

I am excited to see things start to take shape. I know now that the details will be what I must focus on. I'll begin making the galley cabinets this week, and plan for staining/ finishing the interior.

I will also order the rest of what I need to place all electronics (2 galley lights, 4 dual usb outlets, 110v outlet, fan, 2 cabin lights, converter/charger...).

This has been an awesome project so far. Working on it with my little guy has made it more memorable. Can't wait to get out this summer.

Thanks sir!

I got some more work done this week.

First project I've used a router on, and I don't have a table. I routed channels for these sliding cabinet doors yesterday. Not the most fun part of the build, so I'm glad they're done.

Interior cabinets and bunk will be done this week, then I'll disassemble, seal/paint, then reassemble.

Quick update.

This week I was able to finish all of the cabinetry, I put a couple coats of finish on the interior walls, and will have the door and window installed next week. I'm getting excited.

Never mind the 1" gap on my front storage lid (I should have measured 3 times!).
