Well it has been a couple of more weekends and I got the box holes filled. I didn't notice until I looked at the picture that I had the fan opening backward. Not a big deal to pry it up and turn it around. Finally got it married to the trailer. Hope to get the hatch water tight and start the galley this weekend. I am going to see how the ice chest/water/ and battery work for weight - on the way home I think I had too much in the rear, but even so it towed great.

It has been a couple of months - between the weather and a personal tragedy (I lost my wife/partner/best friend of 27 years) I haven't done much. Finally felt like to spending a few hours and got my hatch re-sealed *we will see how it worked this weekend*, some lights wired and a fuse box for the 12v installed. Can't wait for the weather to break and get to see how it sleeps!

Sorry to hear of your loss. :( I don't know if I could keep going if I were in your shoes. The build is coming along nicely, and I really like your design.

NIce, compact build. I have an HHR too, do you know what your entire unit weighs? Mine is a manual, and the book says not recommended for towing.

Sorry about the news of your wife.

Thanks to both for the kind words, the trailer is my therapy - it gets me out of the house and tires me out. I don't know the weight for sure but based on what each part weighed I think it is about 700 lbs. it is pushing what the manual says for total weight (1000). It pulls it well and doesn't feel like it is pushing any limits. I am not going on any cross country journeys - just 4-5 day weekends. I want to weigh it once I get the water and ice loaded and see what it is.

Very sorry for your loss. The trailer will keep you moving & thinking about things. Good job on the build & there's always something to fiddle with on a build once it's "done" if that's possible, I'm beginning to wonder.

Hopefully the weather will give you a break & some cool fall evenings will be nice to go out & visit with nature once in a while. There's nothing like sleeping out, to enjoy a break from home routines & stuff & see some stars in the night sky.

Thanks noseoil - I still have a long list of to-dos, but nothing that won't stop me from hooking up and getting out DFW as soon as the nights are under 80 - right now it won't dip below 80 until 3am. Between the tinkering, dreaming and this site (and work) I am staying busy and I have waited 3 months another 3 or so weeks will come in no time. Here is the latest picture with my door drip edge installed (a generic car sunroof deflector). This weekend rain is forecast so I am anxious to see if the hatch is water tight!

Postby cubbyboy57 » Sat Oct 15, 2016 8:06 am

I finally got a day off and nice weather to line up -- drove 2 hours to a state park and to see what I missed and got right.

Perfect weather! a.nd a good nights sleep. Here is my camp
