Thanks for the kind words Sharon !

Last night I took the hatch apart added glue and then put back together along with corner blocks, License plate, and Galley light backing plates. I rounded the edge of the gusset a bit to knock off the sharp edges and trimmed the bottom. And best of all it still fit.

Wired for 3rd brake light, license plate light and galley light then glued on the outer hatch skin with PL Premium. (trimmed the edges after the photo was taken)

Time to break out the epoxy and coat the hatch and the roof.

That'll be a dust-proof galley. Nice work.

I sure hope so. And THANKS Tony for all our help and inspiration to me an to others on this forum. We plan a trip out west once I retire in a few years. Maybe our paths will cross and if so I will buy you a beer or three.

While waiting for Epoxy to dry on the hatch I began dry fitting the doors again just to make sure that they still fit.

They are from Challenger Doors. Same place that makes the doors for a famous "little" teardrop maker. Their website isn't much help in picking out a door. Its best to contact them and tell them what you need. They aren't cheap but for a first time builder like me, just saves a lot of the scratch built door headaches.

Major Progress this weekend !!!

Took an extra day off to view the eclipse ... which was FREAKING AWESOME !!! and got a lot done on the XBOW.

Skinned the roof !

ImageUntitled by MIke Burkeen, on Flickr

I couldn't find .040 in a 5X10 so I had to use .050 aluminum. It was a bit stiffer to work with than the 040 side pieces. To get it to lay down long enough to get the trim on we had to hit it with 5/8 narrow crown staples. I made sure to keep them close to the edge so that the trim would hid any dimples.

Added the red 040 to the sidewalls.

I actually ordered black trim from Vintage Technologies for the roof. I painted the hinge and other trim with etching primer then black enamel. Still seems to scratch if you really try but touch ups should be pretty easy, then started cutting and dry fitting the trim

Cutting and fitting the aluminum trim takes time to get it right. Once I get it all trimmed out will pull all the temporary screws, add Butyl, some 4200 in places and put the trim on for good.

Looks good now, but you can tell it will look really sharp with that color scheme once you get it all together! Nice work. :applause:

Thanks for the kind words and inspiration KC and Peter :)

I have red vinyl inserts for all that black trim. Should look like black pinstripe with a red center for the bottom trim on the sides. At least that's the plan.

Broke out the Butyl tape last night and added the Fantastic Fan

Also added the electrical inlet, the round porthole cover for the AC inlet fan, and a latch for the porthole cover when open.

Hatch aluminum and trim tonight. I am starting to see light at the end of the tunnel.
