Jackie, I'm still in the early stages of thinking about my build... How was your experience of titling and tagging in NC (I'm in Hendersonville). Fairly straightforward or pain in the butt? What documentation did you have on hand before you started?

Hi Dave, it was a lot easier than I expected. But you do want to get it done early in your build. First thing you need to do is get a NCX number for your trailer. You can go to the tag office and ask for one, they will give you a form with your number on it(basically a vin number for your trailer) i think it costs $5. Then you have to stamp the number on the tongue and axle of your trailer. After it's stamped you have to get it inspected by the license and theft officer at the dmv. Once he signs off on it you take the form back to the tag office, pay your tag and title fee and your done. I got the multi year trailer tag, it costs a little more initially but you save over time.

I carried my trailer to the dmv before i had a floor or anything on it, and it was super easy. Just be prepared to spend around $150 for your tag and title fees...

Good to know, thanks! That doesn't sound too bad. Did you need receipts, bill-of-sale, or anything other than possession of the trailer?

Nope, nothing. On the ncx form you do have to specify if it's homebuilt or factory built, stuff like that. It really is pretty simple though.

Thanks! Yeah the big window ended up working out really well and from the inside it's like a big picture window, you can see everything. Should be cool in the woods or somewhere you can do some nature watching.

So I took the camper out on it's maiden voyage last weekend!!! It did great, I took it up to the mountains on a nice 2 hour drive. The road to the campground was about 10 rough miles down a dirt road, it really tested the offroad ability and everything held up well. I still have to take some pics of the interior...so that's coming soon!ImageImage

Looks great. I really like the look with the gray and black

Can you show some detail on the storage, and do you have any idea what it weighs?

Nope nothing special, just rough everything up with some 180 grit sandpaper. The bedliner will literally stick to anything and everything so masking off where you dont want it is important.

Here's a link to the roof rack on ebay, it's kind of a generic rack but it's cheap and pretty decent quality. Also somewhat light which is good if your watching your weight.
