The Salty Tear - photo journal of the build

Postby DestinDave » Sun Oct 01, 2017 11:57 pm

After 12 years, I am finally getting around to building The Salty Tear...

I joined this forum in 2005, began drawing up plans, talked with a lot of great people, went to the 1st International Gathering in Minden, NE where I met more great people, bought a Tractor Supply trailer, made the floor deck, and then - life got in the way! 3 surgeries, 2 college degrees, 1 heart attack, 1 divorce and 1 marriage later, I am reluctantly retired and free at last to pursue my dreams...

You can see the progress, so far, on our photography website: http://www.bluezenphoto.com/p979644357

Look forward to meeting new friends and spending time on the road.. sooner rather than later.

I am a long time lurker and and recent builder also. My delay had more to do with waiting for the right design to either present itself or come from my own noggin. I was in the middle of designing something in sketchup when John at CLC started releasing drawings of his new design. I was immediately sold. Take your time and have fun.

Beautiful job so far! :applause:  I was on the three-year lurking and three-year build plan. I'm glad you are now building your dreams and inspiration into reality.

Thanks, guys (Friz and Aggie)! I'm stuck at the AC/DC design & wiring stage... lots to consider and more to learn before plowing ahead..

It may have taken about a dozen years to get your dream almost completed; but, it looks like it's something worth waiting for! Congrats and keep going! :applause:

I meant AC as in power but, I've also considered several options similar to this, including an ice tub with air hose coiled in it.. my one concern is condensation.. do you have a problem with that?

Nice craftsmanship!

You are putting a lot of features into a small space. Looks like that time was well spent on planning. :applause:

Thanks, KC..
I worked on and around yachts and marinas for about 10 years - space is at a premium on boats and I learned a lot from the experience.. :)

Looking great! I like the combination of lighter and darker woods. And your tv design is cool too. Nice work!

Great build and craftsmanship.. Will definitely watch here for your updates.. :)

Really like the TV drop down design.. is the bottom of the TV compartment foamed to protect it while traveling, against bumps and uneven roads?

Keep up the great work..
Stay safe, David
