With the windows now on hand..
Beautiful out today. So got an early start on TD. worked on it til late.. ;) I had changed the radius on the very back of the walls. Had to splice in a piece of plywood. Like the new shape better.. Gives more room for cabinets..

This is the passenger side.. started laying out the window placement.

152663 152662

so I can figure out where to cut them, the door, and the holes for the insulation.. will try to get them all cut Sunday..

We'll have to see how the day goes. :worship:

How I plan on mounting walls to floor and trailer:

152660

Holes all laid out for insulation and windows..

Started cutting the holes for insulation first... :)

152665 152666

Then moved right along to cutting and fitting the windows..

152667 152668 152669

Routing the door using a makeshift jig, 1/4" straight router bit and template guide..

152670 152672 152671

Now it's starting to look more like it may be a tear drop soon....

Will set this side down on other one and use it for a pattern for all the holes, except for the windows..

David,

You do good work and work quickly! I like the revised profile and windows. Your teardrop is coming along nicely.

Take care,
Tom

Thank you Tom, for following my build progress.. and the great comments... it means a lot..
(All comments positive or others are welcome,, ) I can take it, throw them at me.. they all help...

Gives me fuel to keep pushing on..

I'm having fun with this.. :D working out this and that as I go.. (like the change of the profile, before I had it to far along to change it).
Learned a long time ago not everything on paper works, when it comes to building something..

I've been learning so much from the builders (like yourself) and others, on this forum and it really helps a lot.. so much information in these pages..

Sent you a PM,,

Have a great day,,,,
Stay safe, David

More TD time today: :D

Stood up curb side wall to see what it looks like in place..

152690 152691

Then started on the drivers side wall.. cut all the holes for insulation and big window..

152692 152695 152693

Then up with it temporarily to see how it looks and check the window position in comparison to the drop box..

152696

Top of drop box will double as a table with a view..
Our mattresses will fold up and become two sitting cushions, one each side of the table..
Can have a meal inside if the weather is bad,, or a friendly game of cards or dominoes..

A Thought  (I should have routed the door leaving 4 tabs that could be cut out later to detach the door. This would have allowed me to skin the interior and the door would have matched the wood grain. Then cut the door out. now I will have to shim it back in place)

Tuesday 1/23/18

Sanded the curb side interior, then glued the 3/4" skeleton and 1/8" wall paneling together and clamped it all down on the trailer deck..
Using extra 3/4" plywood, 2" x 4"s, shims and clamps. Let it dry over night..

152718

Today 1/24/18

Same process as used for the curb side wall on the drivers side wall..

152719

Letting it dry over night..

Curb side with skin glued on waiting to route.. we used 1/8" pre-finished wall paneling.. will add another piece back where the cabinets go, so the galley will have the same paneling...

152720

glued down really well

Tear time again.... Time for the top.. :)
Came back to the forum and checked out aggie79's post again, and how he did his tear top and interior head liner off the cabin... :D
Cut the ribs and struts, put them all together in place on the tear drop..

153133 153134 153197

then took it off, put it on saw horses to skin with the plywood

153198 153199 153204

next came the poly head liner..

153228153229

was really easy to do it this way.. Thanks aggie79 for posting how you did yours.... it was a big help....

Top skin edges and fantastic fan hole all routed and placed back on the tear drop.. squared up with the walls, glued, clamped and screwed into place..

153231 153230 :applause:
Stay safe, David

I like the method you did your roof! I wish I did it that way, seems much easier than trying to force the skin up like I had to do.

Keep up the good work! 3 more months till summer and you are making good time!

Thanks clam,,
I'll give credit for doing the roof that way to aggie79 :) It was easy doing it his way..

Yours is moving right along too.. we may both be camping this summer.. I'm shooting for campable by April  , at Beavers Bend in Oklahoma..

Started on the galley area yesterday, bulkhead in temporary to square things up (humidity has been a killer, warping this and that), solid surface counter cut and set in place,

153270 153271

will take counter top out, add black walnut to the edge then buff to a shine before gluing in permanent.

Can start on the cabinets now, have the red oak for the face frames and have to figure out how to accent the red oak doors with the black walnut. :D I have some black walnut left over from another project.. Thought this tear would be a good place to use some of it..

Let's get'em done,, David

Thanks for the compliment Sharon, and for checking out my build.
I can use them, :) they help to motivate me..
Slow at times but getting there.. ;)
Your build is one of the ones I have read through a couple times..
Is that marine paint still holding up good?
Wanted a complete woody, though, thinking now, woody sides and maybe a PMF, painted top..

Great progress David!

I need your motivation. I was going to clean out the garage yesterday and resurrect my window unit "frankenstein" project, but decided to go bike riding instead.

Take care,
Tom
