Currently tongue is just bolted in.

On my next build, I'm toying with a removable tongue. It would be impossible for a thief to tow.

Nicely done with the underfloor storage.

SoapCreek Adventure Trailer

Postby soapcreek » Mon May 28, 2018 10:27 pm

Framed out the back hatch and taillights between the activities of the day. Didn’t get around to skinning the front and top yet. Plan is to camp a couple times before deciding what we want for galley setup. Unfortunately I am not going to make my original goal date but should have it usable in another couple weeks. That is if I can quit thinking of things to add to the short list.

Finding it difficult to get out of vacation mode and get back to work on the trailer. I did finish the hatch door this evening. Started to round over the edges also.

Nice work! I've been impressed and following your build. Slowly trailing far behind through a similar build. :)

Thank you. I’m still hoping to have it to paint by the end of the month. One thing I wish I could do over is the outside skin. I should have moved the first piece higher on the front so it didn’t break on the curve. Currently sanding and applying a thin layer of filler to get a smooth curve. Ultimately it will get covered so I think it will be ok but if I had it to do over I would do it differently.

Haven’t really made any progress this week. Just pulled it outside to get ready for rounding over edges and sanding the wood filler over screws and knots tomorrow. It doesn’t look quite so big outside the shop on its own wheels.

I'm digging your running boards. Are you going to finish it as a woody?

Thank you. Going with spray on bed liner (Linex). Going to color match my truck.

Successfully removed the cabin from the trailer, rolled it on all four sides to round over corners/sand and put it back onto the trailer without it breaking into pieces. I’m calling that a win. No pictures to prove it happened though.
