Enjoying following your build Tony! I’m currently in the midst of a build and pricing out sheet aluminum in the Phoenix area is crazy expensive! I’m in need of 5x10 sheets which I’m told are only available in .063 and I’m seeing prices just shy of $300/sheet . So I’m looking at “liners” now as they are much less expensive. Although glass/epoxy is far more time consuming it can’t be as expensive as 3-4 sheets at $300 a copy.

I have not looked at the cost comparison yet but I will at some point.

.06 aluminum is going to be stiff.

So far the fiberglassing has been quick and easy. The roof and edge tape will be a bigger job but I’m anticipating two hours.

So, I meant to ask earlier, but are you officially looking out for fires? Is that a volunteer activity?

Yes.. truly in the middle of nowhere. An hour hike to the truck and then an hour to pavement. Deep in the Selway Wilderness. We’ve not spotted a fire but a lookout to the east called one in.

Two more nights. And the Aurora is forecasted tonight.

That should be enjoyable.
I spent some time on the Selway and Lochsa rivers last year, for the first time.
I need to get back there.

...Maybe next spring, so the kids can see the rivers at high water. (Last year was very impressive, even for "little" rivers.)

It was a green hue just above the saw blade of the Bitterroot peaks.

I think the forecast is the same. Perhaps the shimmering curtain will dip farther south tonight.

Don’t go to IMS, I found a place and got .040 5X10 I think was $60 a sheet. Can’t remember the name right now. It was west of downtown.

You should try and talk Todd into a tear tour. A remarkable build.

Turned another corner today. The roof is on.

Is it possible to build a teardrop without a 1/4" crown stapler?

Oh-no! The dreaded hatch is next! That curvy thing that makes teardroppers shudder with fear! Oh-my! :frightened: :frightened:

Looks nice! Did you glue the ply down with PLP?

Yep. The brown goo.

Working on the hatch gusset template at the moment.

I managed to crank out the hatch gusset template tonight and the template for the spacer.

Image

The spacer gives me 3/8" of room for my 1/2" seal. An 1/8" of squeeze.
