I finally found the correct poundage/length gas struts for the galley hatch. 5th set worked like a charm!

such a great build!!! Nice lines and very solid from the pics. Well Done.

May I ask which size and lbs of gas shock you went with?

Thanks

I ended up using one regular strut and one that locks in the extended position. The extension force is adjustable but I left them full force. 145lbs I believe. They hold it open fine and with the locking strut I will not have to worry about the hatch lowering in high winds. If you go with a locking strut, only install it on one side as you would need a third hand to unlock both struts and lower the hatch.

Thank You Ricky. I like the locking idea, I was not aware that was a choice.

Again, excellent build. Well done.

Cheers

Anyone have any recommendations/suggestions on a foam mattress? Build or buy. If I buy one I will need to cut it in half to be able to access the floor storage.

I've got a mattress sitting next to my new build. I'll stick it in this weekend. It's 5" of poly foam with a 3" memory topper. I've used these before and they are superb. Purchased from the Foam Factory.

Better than most motel beds.

The mattress may be the most important item in a teardrop, the cabin is for sleeping.
The bed with mattress I installed does not please She Who Must Be Obeyed.
I had no idea I was living inside the story "The princess and the pea". Turns out I do live there, and she can still detect that dang pea.

So my advice is to spare no expense on that mattress, it can save a lot of trouble if you get it right the first time.
Try it out, make sure you like the feel of it, buy a custom one if you need to.
I'm accumulating quite a collection of mattress pads and toppers and air mattresses....

Our new Foam factory 5" +3" memory mattress (with cover) is in the teardrop and it's just dreamy to lay on.

These things really need to be unwrapped inside the cabin. Trust me, I've done it both ways.

What lb memory foam do you recommend?

Scroll down to the Queen with 5" of medium base foam and 3" of 3 lb VicoSaver memory foam. They are superb.

If you go this route, make sure you buy the $10 cover. It comes installed. And open it inside the cabin.

Well, I finally got around to carpeting the ceiling and mounting the last 2 lights and beauty ring for the fan.

Here is my under floor storage. It is 48 1/4” x 24 1/4” x 5”. Not sure what I will use it for but a little extra storage never hurts.
