Australian Off Road Teardrop Build

I've been reading this forum for years and decided it was time to start building this Teardrop I've always promised myself.

So through the ex military auctions I purchased a No.5 Australian Army Trailer. Actually after buying 1 for the build I liked the trailer so much I've also purchased another as a general use box trailer also.

Then through the process fo getting the trailer registered before tearing it down.

Finally got into removing the tub and weighing the chassis.

Prepped the chassis, purchased new wheels and tires and measured up for a new braked axle

And finally, start to get some walls up, starting to look like a camper

I agree with Az Pete. Looks like you've got yourself a solid platform to build on.
I might suggest that you replace that rear pintle receiver with a standard square receiver, though. That way, you could plug in a cargo tray, if needed, or fabricate any manner of accessories as you see fit.
I did notice that the spring pack seems rather thick. What's the cargo capability of those trailers? You might need to take a leaf or two out to soften up the ride.

Thanks for the comments. The payload on these is 500kg (1100lb) on top of the original trailer that weights 350kg (771lb) So 850kg (1870lb) all up.

Weighted where we are today and I'm at 429kg 945lb) with the empty fridge in the fridge slide frame.

Funny enough the standard trailer rides very well empty so I think the leaves look at lot worse than they really are. That said see how it goes as we progress.

Looking very good, I like the simplicity & thought process you have for assembly, light, strong & simple works very well on a build.

The finish work is what takes the most time, cabinets & interior detailing will eat up more time than the cabin itself, but it's worth the effort. Really enjoying the build videos, keep up the good work! Want to see it rolling when it's finished.
