Chocolate Mug Cake

Has anyone posted about the 5 minute Chocolate Mug Cake here before? I did a search but did not find one. We got the recipe via email couple weeks ago and tried it sunday night. It actually does work and taste pretty good too. If you would like for me to post let me know. Parivercat

5 minute chocolate mug cake

Ok here it is folks
4- tablespoons each of Flour and Sugar
2- tablespoons Cocoa
1- egg and a splash of Vanilla Extract
3- tablespoons each of Milk and Oil
3- tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
1- large coffee mug (a must)
1. Put all dry stuff together in the mug and mix well.
2. Mix the remaining stuff together and mix it well
with the stuff already in the mug.
3. Put mug in a 1000 watt microwave oven for 3 minutes.
4. Let the thing cool for 1 minute so you don't get burnt, then
either dump it on a plate or eat it right out of the mug your choice.
5. Add Vanilla ice cream if you like (optional of course)

I make this a lot for my hubby when he wants something sweet. We really like it. Just a warning, it will rise way above the mug top but will not run over so don't get excited. It will settle back down when Microwave stops. My recipe calls for 3 TBSP each of flour & sugar. I usually put the chocolate chips on last and leave on top because mine always seems to settle to the bottom if I mix them into the batter. Thanks for putting your recipe on here and I will try it and see what the difference is. Also if I think about it I put just a dash of salt. Every body enjoy, it is a "magical" cake for one or two.

I tried it last week. Will become a regular when the "sweet tooth" strikes.

Wonder how butterscotch chips would taste - have to try that.
BTW, I used cake flour.

Love it with a cold glass of buttermilk. :thumbsup:

Tried it yesterday, followed the res. Used AP flower, added about 10 chocolate chips after mixing all other. Mine turned out "dence" :roll: not quite like a fruit cake but heading that direction. :thumbdown: Ill try again with cake flower.

They do come out somewhere between Cake and Brownie but taste great.

I like mine better mixed with buttermilk and a pinch of salt. If adding semi-sweet chips a little more sugar helps unless you're a dark choc. fan.

Since I don't need the egg I'm gonna try it with 1 Tbs flax seed and 3 Tbs water as a substitute for the egg. I SERIOUSLY doubt if that'll work in this res. but works great in Waffles and such with no major "rise" factor and binding only is the issue.

I used white dulce chips last time -- Yummy -- even though they all sunk to the bottom just spread'em around when you eat.

Anyone tried it with SR flour?
