Here in landlocked Dallas, I've had good luck buying frozen scallops that are vacuum sealed before freezing. I also find that frozen shrimp are fine, as long as you buy then with the shells still on. If they are peeled before freezing, they can be mushy when they thaw.

I'll have to give your chowder recipe a try.

We know a little about seafood chowder on the Right coast too. 8)
Made some last Tuesday, and the recipe was very similar to yours Dean. :thumbsup:

Please use American caught wild shrimp, for reasons too numerous to mention.
