I painted the white end caps and rear. I liked it so much that I decided to paint the top. Well while using Alumiprep 33 it ran down the side even with the sides covered in plastic and left streaks. I tried to clean the sides with more Alumiprep 33 but no dice. So I always said I would not ever polish another trailer I already have one side polish because my wife did not want me to paint the whole trailer. It is looking pretty nice so far.

Hah, I said I'd never build another trailer after the first one. Post some pictures of your new shiny finish.

The paint from the front, over the top, and down the back really helps unify the look.

My wife did not want the emblem/Plaque on the door so I put it on the front.

Wow, Incredible. Great craftsmanship. I am always amazed by metal skins. Great Logo, did you cast and make it?

so, why not polish the top, due to sun on the outer skin? I have a small pickup with a cap in michigan and I'm always almost burning my head by touching it against that roof. Even with the crank windows open for the cap.

What's behind the red and turquoise blanket? shower/toilet, clothes closet?

What did you do for the electrical and refrigeration systems?

Was there a date on the bottom of the stove?

I'd take the latest date you can find on it and add maybe 5 years to say the parts were used or scrounged or sat on the shelf for a while before being bought and guestimate the age that way. (I don't even have that much to go on since mine was nothing more than a hollow shell to begin with.) I wonder if I can carbon date a shingle? :-)

I don't know the age of the stove, I bought it seperate from the trailer. Behind the curtain is a closet. It runs off 12 volt power but does have 115volt power when pluged into shore power. It has the original ice box.

Don't let me distract you from playing with your new toy. You can answer these questions in the dead of winter if you want.

I'm just curious about your current verses original: wiring box location(s) and fuses, battery charger (deep cycle or 2x golf cart), 12v to 120 v inverter? 120v outlets, 12v "lighter type" outlets?; I surmise the plumbing is restored to original in tanks (fresh and grey), and water pump and hosing.; Heater? A/C? Stereo? (quadraphonic? ;-) Lights are 120 v, 12v auto "dome" type? Any conversion to CFL, LED?

I'm trying to date my trailer, too! Best guess is mid to late 1980's. Born as a vinyl siding demo unit. I'm finding vecro hooks as a tape around the frame, so it must have had a still standing "skirt." (Hmmm, must be a female trailer then, unless it was a kilt? ;-)

I have personally known the trailer and even drove the tow vehicle for it over the past 8 years. The owner died and the family offered it to me, for a fair bid. I went with 10 hours general/semi-skilled labor to help get the place ready for sale. (the home of the person I had known.) So if that weren't fair... That owner had used it to haul chicks and rabbits to kid's birthday parties. (caged)

So other than what you saw, outer shell, there was nothing there inside, (but blank canvas. ;-)

Makes me curious about other "one of a kind"'s. And modernizations and refurbishings, and assorted "blank canvases" to the modern world.
