Insulating my canned ham?

Postby TheresaD » Thu Sep 01, 2011 10:27 pm

I picked up some rigid foam panels and some foil bubble wrap insulation to put in between the spaces of the stick framing of my Sprite. I don't want to deal with the pink foam insulation. The mice enjoyed it too much when it was in the walls before and I also don't want to deal with the itchiness installing it. The question is... do I put the foil bubble wrap closer to the outside aluminum skin of the trailer with the foam closest to the wall panel or vice versa??

Hello Theresa,

It should be placed near the outside skin, but it is very important to leave an air space between the bubble wrap and skin for it to be effective, assuming we're talking about the reflective material.
The exact distance is what you'd need to look up in the instructions (probably available online).

Thanks Rob. I thought that's what I'd seen people do but I wasn't sure. I'll be tackling that this weekend.

How do you leave the space?

I got this idea in a dream. Really. Use the plastic mesh that roofers put under cedar shingles. Would that work? Or is it just "dreamy"?
