Got the Metz home today. Wow...is it small! 8ft body, 6 ft wide. It is a standie, but for really short people. Been stored inside a barn for 40 years, and it shows...no leaks or rotten wood. Needs alot of TLC though. It appears nothing is missing from what it had new. Really strange POWERED roof vent (this may have been added) Body is really straight, no Hail dings - just a few bumps and bruises. Has serial number "0005", on both frame and title. Original Bargman 2-prong electrical connector. Has an added rear bumper/tire mount that is junk. Correct 6 lug wheels, and get this...an electric brake axle! It is cramped...right of the door is cabinets, sink, heater, fridge, and stove. Left of door is the small bed.
Very restorable

I look forward to seeing what you do with the trailer.
I was just one short trip to getting that trailer myself.
I love those Metz.

Nice find Dan...it appears that it also has a nice Bargman door handle as well.....that's some $$ right there, pretty wide door on a trailer that size! Doug

Dan:

I thought I saw your truck turning onto Stop 11 over the weekend, but it didn't have black fenders and I realized the door decal was different.

That's a really great look with the 'Metz and the truck--great combo.

The truck and Metz were wildly popular at a vintage car show this weekend in Illinois. I got a little hoarse talking almost entirely about the Metz. Generated alot of other conversation regarding teardrops and other small campers. Here is a shot of the pair along a Indiana road with a covered bridge at a rest stop named for Ernie Pile, a Hoosier native and WWII hero.

Wow...the calls are coming in. I have been asked to display the Metz at numerous shows. Several vintage camper shows, 2 hotrod shows, 2 RV shows, and the RV museum in Elkhart would like to display it also. The problem with the museum is that they want it for 2 years! The family of Martin Metzendorf, the founder, has contacted us asking for more details, as they have been asked for more specifics regarding the camper line.
