I didn't find many other images of trailers like yours, looking at your interior photos, how do you keep the weather out of the gap towards the front ceiling, when the roof's raised, and when you're done, is there a roof that covers the gap between the rear hatch and the front roof's hinge?

Just wondering how that is supposed to function....

Theres a pices of wood on a hinge on The font part that goes up when you bring down the roof. I'm adding some rubber seal to keep it tight when ts closed but also making a bug net system to have some ar flow when needed

Theres no gap between the roof and the rear hatch, just the hinge that is water tight...a bit like the galley hatch on a teardrop

finish exterior painting.
added new rear tablet
seals around rear window.
fixe front windows.

So spring is coming, i have a few weekends to work on the WAWA untill the camping/biking season starts..a few improvements per season should amke it a nice traler in few years lol. we used it a few times last summer, it was great!

so this year i'm working on the underside...i've found Rubberbands to replace the springs and make it look original.
I will repaint the underside completely to protect it.

Now the metal need repair, the framing right under the trailer/tongue is solid but the tubing under it is rotted. my guess is that this tubing was there to help making the trailer rigid from side to side.

instead of trying to redo the same type of reinforcement, i was thinking of removing all the round tubes and use angle iron (2x2) to rebult/replace it. I would put a few pieces across the trailer from side to side and two pieces going from the tongue going to somewhere in front of the wheels forming an "A"

So i have a question for the trailer chassis experts what thickness of angle iron sould i get?

I liked this little trailer when you bought it and like it even more with what you've already done to it. It looks to be a rare little gem. Thanks for sharing your purchase and modifications. I look forward to seeing more pictures!

Good to see you're back at it.

I was just wondering if all the various struts and tubing under
the WaWa is some sort of space-frame or truss-type chassis of some
sort ? If so, you may need to analyse it all a bit before you get to
replacing it or parts of it.

Yes its a truss style sub frame. Theres still A good strong frame under the floor. It looks like the sub frame is an "add on" to make the whole thing stiffer by using ligth tubing.

Most of the truss framing is to rusty to be very strong, that's why i'm thinking of removing all of it and building another type of subframe.. Simple angle iron should be strong enough i would think. We see complete teardrop built on less metal than what the main frame of the wawa is built!

For those of you with trailers builtwith angle iron, what tickness did you buy?

few pics of the complete underside with truss system...any input/suggesions welcome.

i repainted completely the underside of the camper this weekend using tremclad rust paint. i've used that piant with success on a few trailers on metal and wood.

latest modification.:
replaced the two vent with two lexan windows.
the original plastic vents litterally shattered when i tried to take them of to try and restore them...

i also built a new side light using an old surveillance camera housing and LED light inside.

Suspension restore Works beautifully, road tst successsfull
Fixed the rear curtain pole thats broke last summer.
I'm now working on new door for the cabinets.

'Love the fact you were able to restore the suspension
to as close to original as possible with the new rubber components.

Have you locked the roof in the up position, even for towing? I can't work out otherwise how you don't scrape the porch light off when the roof goes down.....
