I have been wanting a small standy for a while to accommodate everyone in the family more comfortably on our camp outings, not to mention for more space for my Daughters as they are getting older. I had known about what I thought was an early Shasta sitting for some time a few miles from here, but was never able to catch anyone home. Well, that all changed yesterday! I looked as I pasted by and the property owner was home So I pulled in the drive! I introduced myself and asked about the camper. Turns out That the camper had belonged to his Aunt and uncle whom he referred to as snowbirds. They gave him the camper to use as he was building his A frame home by himself about 10 years ago when they "upgraded" to a new camper. He was excited that someone wanted the trailer that would put it back to use. After a battle through the briar bushes to look at what turned out to be a early 60's Nomad a very generous on the sellers behalf deal was struck and the trailer had a new home. This trailer is almost like a time capsule with 99 percent of its original equipment.







There is some typical water damage in the rear under the window and on the curb side at both corners but it doesn't look to be too bad. We will see when I go into it for repairs. Seems like the damage is always worse than it appears.

That interior is beautiful for the age. As far as leaks, they couldn't be bad or the interior would be worse. Good Luck with the rehab.

Wow Mark!!!! What a find, it appears that not much needs to be done on the interior of that one! I'm sure you can handle a repaint on that pretty easily. I like the forward slanting windows on the front sides. Doug

As I bought this with a bill of sale. I am on a quest to find the serial number so I can properly identify the year. Anyone who knows where to look?

Nice Find! Love the birch interior. Pretty straight condition from the pics.
It shouldn't be a difficult restore from the looks of it.

Hey Mark, look on the right tongue arm. That's where most of them are. You might have to wire brush some paint to find it. I've had 4 different vintage 'canned hams' and that's where I've always found the vin number. Good luck.

Mike, There is a Potty room.

Gage, I would like it if you could be real specific about the usual location of that vin. There is some work to do in that area due to a tongue extension that has been added.

I am going to remove the extension from the tongue. Look closely and you will see that the original marvel coupler is in tact with a ball closed in it on the extension. There are some welds but they are very minimal. I just don't want to grind the vin off in the process.

I would be willing to bet the serial number is under one of those angle iron braces welded to the tongue.

I would look under the metal for the propane tanks, thats were i have found the S/N for my 2 canned hams, gotta love the bathroom in the trailer i belive you have more hip room in yours than i do in the 56 roadmaster 18ft trailer i just bought and the reason i bought the trailer was for the bathroom

Yep, that's where I'd look. It looks like that platform has been added and it's probably on top of the vin number. Back then, the trailers for the most part only came with one tank and that one looks like it set up for two.

I might be able to check under there tomorrow. The last few days Washington county Indiana Has seemed more like Washington State! I'm ready for this rain to pass on by.
