Hello

since 1998 I own a 1975 Eriba Familia with four beds and a maximum weight of 690 kg (1523 lb).
Its made of Aluminum on a steel tube frame and a fiberglass roof with a pop-up section.
There you can stand, if you are not bigger than 1.95 meter.
I'm only 1.68 m and can stand with the pop-up down.

It's equipped with stove, sink, fridge and heater.

The Familia is one model in a range of several Eriba Tourings which are since 1957 Made in Germany by Hymer and famous for their longlife quality and light weight.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hymer

They are very easy to tow even for smallest cars.

The smallest trailer is the Puck, early models weigh 600 lb, a little bigger the Puck XL.
The following models are all 2.00 m (6.6 ft) wide and 2.14 m (7 ft) high with closed pop-up.
Triton, Pan and Familia are without the 3-ft tongue about 12 ft long with different floor plans.
Next size with 15 ft is the Troll and the biggest model is the 18 ft Titan which is 7 ft wide.
There have been another model named Odin, I think it was like the Titan, but I never had seen one.

The Eriba Tourings are still produced today except of the Titan, but they are heavier today than the early models.
New Erba Tourings are very expensive and for that reason old and used trailers get high prices.

Because my girls growed out of the front beds, I purchased in 2012 a cheap 1977 Troll without kitchen and restored it in a simple way.

If there are questions, don't hesitate to ask. Here in Germany is a very good forum about restorations of that vintage trailers.

Is there a link to that forum/website ? I like to look through such sites, as there is always something
interesting and often unexpected to learn or discover.

Hi Mezmo,

the best source about restoration ist the german Eriba Touring Club Forum http://www.eriba-touring-club.de/ETC-Forum/index.php

The guys post many pictures in their restoration blogs in http://www.eriba-touring-club.de/ETC-Forum/viewforum.php?f=26

Here a very detailled report of a complete rebuilt of a Troll including a new steel frame ! http://www.eriba-touring-club.de/ETC-Forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=6122

There is a french forum too http://www.lesamisderiba.fr/
They have got many scans of original Sale Folders, vintage test reports and user manuals.

And here the link to the UK owners club http://eriba-owners-club.co.uk/
and the british forum, but there you have to register! http://www.eribaforum.co.uk/

The Eribas are here in Europe the favourite Classic Trailers for vintage car drivers, like the Airstreams in USA, but even smaller.

Thanks for the links Tom.

I agree, the Eribas are a great little travel trailer/caravan/wohnwagen
and I like them alot too.

I was first impressed with them when I came across how they were built,
one time, when I was surfing the web looking up info/looking to see
what was out there in the world regarding the travel trailer/caravan/wohnwagen.
[Something I do as a hobby.]

Cheers,

Also... http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewto ... c935c1bb49

I had a Puck for about 6 years. Decided to let it go last year. I loved it to death, but it was really more than I needed.

George, if you really want one, you could do like I did. I imported one from Europe. It was in great shape, unlike the ones in the US. And shipping from Belgium was probably comparable to shipping from CA.

We just bought a 1967 Puck. We live in Los Angeles and will be driving up to Portland to bring it home.

Is there an Eriba club in the USA?

Thanks,

Growler
