Front window--has interior frame, but it seems unsalvageable. Needs new cranks and mechanisms as well as center glass

Hello!

I need some information about rebuilding windows. Please forgive my inexperience with forums. I have tried to search for this topic, but haven't found what I was looking for. I have been searching CL and EBAY for a couple months and have found that vintage windows don't come up often. I guess that is a good sign that they are not being scrapped! I would love to know if I can buy the flashing(?) or aluminum that is used to create the interior window frame. I found a nice site that sells most of the parts needed to rebuild jalousie and hehr windows, but not the frame aluminum. I have included a few pics of the windows that need frames. All the others were intact (yay!). We bought this beaut about 2 months ago, nothing in her but rot ;). Once we replace the rotten studs and floor, we will do electrical, plumbing, and gas, then on to paneling and windows....that's why they make em' so cute...we would have to kill them if it weren't for that!!

Thanks in advance,

Tennille

I look forward to your canned ham rebuild.

This site has some videos on restoration of vintage trailer windows:
http://www.cannedhamtrailers.com/57shasta.htm

Vintage Trailer Supply has a wide variety of window hardware and seals (but not the window framing you're looking for):

If you find a source for vintage trailer windows, please post it.

Take care,
Tom

Thank you Tom! Canned Ham Productions had great videos!! He does tend to ramble a bit, but man he is thorough!! He says he has a video that shows how to create the pieces his windows were missing, but I wasn't able to wade through enough vids last pm and find it. Vintage trailer supply is the site I mentioned, but I couldn't remember the name of the site when I was writing the post. I am going to call the local rv thrift shop (about an hour away) and see what they might have available. Thank you Dennis, I will be traversing your site today!! My FB group suggested the rv surplus store in Elkhart, IN. I will post my results!

It is and has a group of the most helpful "experts" you will find. They are very generous with advice. (Must be the Rob effect  )
There are a couple members who salvage stuff from old trailers and you may find the parts you need. Look for Eric aka Pigbiter (don't ask)

What kind of camper do you have? If you're looking for interior trim pieces that are basically a piece of light gauge aluminum angle, any sheet metal place could probably make them for you if you took them some samples of what you need.
If it's just trim that you need, you could make it out of wood. The wood trim around the windows holds the screen in place.
