Espar/Eberspacher diesel heater Propex propane

There are a couple of us with Espar heaters and In looking for additional information I came across this web site http://www.letonkinoisvarnish.co.uk/Ebe ... tro_1.html which give a fairly detailed view of what they are how they work and how to repair. I run mine on water white kerosene and so far it has not needed rebuilding.
Another option is the Propex propane heater which is available in the US. http://www.propexheatsource.co.uk

I'd be a little worried about using kerosene constantly. I know Espar recommends occasionally running some through the heater, but that recommendation is based on the fact that kerosene burns hotter and can help clean out carbon buildup. Not sure if running hotter all the time is a good thing.....

I love our little Espar.

Here's a link to the maintenance I did on mine last year.

Espar Rebuild

There's links to the D1LC manual and the site that showed me how to rebuild it.

I have been rebuilding these espar heaters for about 3 yrs now we use them mounted under the semi's at work, so they are diesel powered and cooled with engine coolant, they have their own lil ecm or brain so to speak so we can hook a laptop up to them and see whats going on,, what trouble codes, e.t.c. they seem to have a lot of combustion blower motor failures.... run kerosene in them once a yr for a half hr. is what the instructors told us....

I know the Espar Edith diagnostic software is available free however you have to have the ISO adapter from the heater to a laptop, I think you could make one up with the correct fittings or just jumper it as long as you have 12V power to the heater.

Supposedly this will do it http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-K-line-used ... 82&vxp=mtr
I have one but have yet to try it.
