what valve/fitting to pass propane line through TD wall?

Postby Poorlytiedfly » Mon Apr 04, 2016 7:12 am

I am wrapping up my TD build and need to figure out what brass propane fitting I need to be shopping for. My galley area has a pull-out CampChef Explorer stove/griddle and I will have a 10lb propane tank mounted outside of the galley on the small rear trailer frame extension seen at the lower right in this pic:

With the propane line from the stove, connected to the OCV being under my countertop - I want to see if there is a through wall valve that would have a "male" fitting on the inside and a "female" fitting on the outside. Once outside of my galley wall, I could easily hook up to my tank with a short propane hookup. Any thoughts?

There are all kinds of variations to choose from, a straight brass FxF bulkhead connector will give you a platform to end up with any connection you want.

Here's one that may help, it's also made for a quick connect which I highly recommend for convenience :

Best bet is to go to your local Propane Supplier, they should have a whole catalog of fittings, configurations and lengths to accommodate your wall thickness to look at.

Might mention that you get the correct "thru the wall/panel length" as they are made in various short/long panel sizes.

Something that can be helpful when using the bulkhead style connector mentioned above, but mount it into a plate to form a larger mounting "flange" and then screw the flange to wall or floor in location of your choice...

I am still having trouble finding something long enough to pass through my trailers side walls. As shown here the LP tank is outside and just inside this wall is the pull out stove/griddle.

I have approx. 1.5" sidewalls to pass through.

How about a pigtail hose from the tank around the back to the stove? Lots of connect/disconnect hassle, but cheap and easy otherwise. The pigtail should stow easily without having to disconnect the stove end.

Lacks any "coolness" factor.
I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

Buy 2 of these and put a brass nipple of the required length to connect between them with a little extra, then use one of the follower nuts to tighten it up. Best guess would be a close nipple should do it. Be sure and pressure test for leaks.

I have the same issue...

Since this is an old thread, you may not get an answer. But here's how I did mine.

I used rubber propane line that the local propane company made up for me and ran it back to the galley and up through the floor.

Tony

(I needed two regulators since my heater and stove have separate pressure needs.)

How did you seal the penetrations in the bottom?

I’m looking for a bulkhead fitting (Either brass or stainless) to put thru the walls and floor. My floor is 3/4 thick and I can find long enough fittings for there. My issue is , my walls are 1 1/4” thick and I’m having a hard time finding a fitting that is long enough to pass thru and still have enough threads sticking thru for the retaining nut. I’m thinking I might have to machine or tig up my own. I guess for now, I’ll keep searching.
