This is my Doxie Casey and our new addition Sandy the cat.

Casey knows when we load the trailer and hops around like crazy!
Last week we were at the Ocean and witnessed some jerk wad (not the words I normally use, but I am keeping it clean) dump this cute kitty on the beach and took off almost running it over! We cut him off and had a few choice words with him, and scooped up the cat, immediately falling in love with the little fur ball.

by working on it
My wife and I have 7 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 birds (down from 11 dogs,11 cats, 2 birds, 2 goats, 3 hamsters, and 1 fish...trying to scale down, through natural decrease). With this many critters, we never travel together, or leave them alone for over eighteen hours; for over twenty years, we've been blessed with strays from all over, from friends, and from mercy calls. We were down to 4 dogs, awhile back, but within two months had acquired 3 more (my wife can't say no...except to me). The newest dog was a package deal, two for one. We took in the father miniature long haired Dachshund, to keep the owner from turning it in to "coyote bait", and got its mixed-breed offspring newborn pup as a "reward"...a Dorkie (half miniature long haired Dachshund/half Yorkie. She was going to be my wife's personal assistant/companion dog, but she adopted me as her human instead. When I'm at home, she's my constant companion. I can't even view this forum without her supervision (I've learned to type my posts one -handed, since she stays curled up in my other arm). You gotta love that.

Anyone want a kitten or five? Feral momma cat decided to have kittens in the bushes near the basement door behind our house. No idea why as we'd not been feeding her. Kitty Momma, Kim for short, was rather thin & kittens were fairly scrawny so, of course, I have now started feeding. Haven't found an adoption group who takes feral cats. Plan is to trap Kim, spay & vaccinate her, then release her. Will try to catch, vet & socialize kittens. Assuming they adjust well to humans then they will be placed through a local adoption group... BUT...

This little guy had a bad eye infection. Left eye was sealed shut with matter & right eye had a nasty film covering entire eye. Kitten was acting sick & appeared blind or almost blind. He was laying out in the open while his sibs were in the bushes. I basically just walked over & picked him up. He barely even argued. Within 36 hours of captivity & treating his eyes he became a lively, little love bug with normal or near normal vision. Sadly he still has to spend a few more days in solitary confinement in the basement to protect Tasty Kitty, our resident, indoor cat. He seems to be taking it well. Living in a dog crate with an xpen set up as play pen when I'm visiting with him. Eats about 5-6 meals a day so lots of visiting going on.

This is Darla... she's our rescue dog (my first ever pet, adopted in 2001), 13 now and she's starting to show her age. Used to be she was up for a 12 mile hike, now we feel good if she can do a 2-mile walk.

CJ , we just released two pretty Corn snakes into the woods by my house .... my friend could no longer keep them ... It was a sad event ... :(
Is that a little ring neck? ... there was little one around here a few days ago ... cute little things eh ... I just let it wander off to join the many others around here... .. Saw a 3’ moccasin in the driveway ... I didn’t get near that one ... :o jet black , fat, angular head :frightened: Run away! Run away!

That's Prancer, my 'little girl'... Dachshund Terrier mix. When we got her, she fit in my Hand. Almost ten years later she's not quite my constant companion, but would be if she could.

Cute pup. Does the Dachshund part take any off the hyperactivity out of the (I'm assuming Russel) terrier part?

Thanks for posting.

That's a great question. We once had a black lab and border collie mix. My co-worker said it would be marvelous if it got the labs demeanor with the brains of the border collie. Nope... I got the energy and activity level of the border collie with the brains of the lab. It took me four years to calm that one down. Once he grew up he was a great dog. My favorite I think. I still miss him.

She's all sweetheart, with a healthy mix of ball chaser thrown in for good measure.
