Awesome job!!!

On the sore wrist, let the saw do the work, don't push.
It may take a little longer but the cuts are usually better.
That being said, the vibration from a saw can irritate just by holding on and steering it.

Mary I wish I was closer so could help you with it. Have you gotten windows yet? If not there is a person in Buford with some on CL all the time and there is a Camper parts/salvage in Loganville also. If all else fails you borrow my small tear to go if you want.

Cliff

Cliff, I may have to take you up on that offer I am trying so hard to finish it it. The rain is a factor though. and we are getting a about an inch a day . I have been washing up my buckets, you need to do this once a year if you live on a farm, I put several very dirty buckets on my porch about a week ago and it is now, after last nights rain, over flowing. The times the sun comes out, you can see the wet earth turning into clouds as the humidity (steam) rises from the ground, then it rains again. I am so tired of this!!! I have to walk down to the barn about 150 feet through wet grass and that is ickie. Can't cut the grass even if my lawn mower was working, the grass can't dry enough to cut before it rains again. I am going down later to put on more glue hope it dries quickly as I have to start puttin on canvas tomorrow. I am going out now to buy batteries for my camera pick up a Rx and buy a loaf of bread and some more peanut butter.

Mary , raining every day here too ... everything’s Damp ... we may have to resort to the old Piano trick , where you leave a light bulb (old style) burning inside the cabin to help chase away the dampness... Just an idea ... works in pianos ...

I would consider putting the top on the cabin first. This will stiffen it up greatly and give you a more solid structure to fix the hatch to before locking everything into place.

Done the other way you may find that you are chasing a moving target and possibly have fit problems later.

Good progress there!

Well I have tried this three times and I am not happy. right now I am trying to just kerf to fit but it is not working 109308 the 1x4 is my hanger board for the hatch. note: where the stringer or rib starts it is flat for two inches then it starts the curve. it is tight curve and I have started the kerfing 1/2 inch from the hanger board for 6 inches and still it popped the foam when i tried to bend it. I tried again and the kerfing deeper and closer together and POP it did it again . I am getting so :x I will have to take it apart to saw and change the angle I am inclined to let it pop then fill it with glue and maybe GS and just call it a necessary split. Seal it the best I can for water problems and just cross my fingers. The bottom of the hatch is bending fine.

Maybe make it two pieces edge beveled and glued together so that less filler is needed? Then just sand it a bit to take the corner down a little and round it over?

That is basically what I am thinking I just didn't say it so great , When I get frustrated I cant talk much less type it. The biggest problem is I am layering 1/2 pieces of foam the first has got to be down tight against the wood. I am using a couple of screws, got 25 bricks ready to put on the foam to hold it down and before I could get it on POP! same place three times. I guess it is not going to bend right there, so like you said I will just glue it and sand it off and maybe the second piece will bend around . Well back to work to try again.

Mary C. :)

I have worked with the hatch several times and there is over an inch for play, it will be work!!!

If you gently heat the outer surfaces whilst bending , they won’t break ... 190F is the goal temp.

GPW I don't have any way to do that only a hair drier and the bend is six feet long and by the time i start the bend on one end the other end has cooled off.

You could try the fabric trick .... cover the outside with an old bed sheet or something , then make the bends ... the covering will absorb the tension loads ... no cracking ... just bend it slowly ...
