Got any good pics of those old vents on the walls? I know the midget uses that, but I don't have any good pics...

A lot of pictures of wall vents ^^. I am going to take a closer look at these, thanks for the idea, I hate leaks in the roof of my campers.

Mike , I think lately everybody does it just because everybody else does ...

CS, Thanks for all those contemporary side vent pics ... Nice to find so many good looking choices ...

Bottom line , just sayin’... if you live in a swamp that rains all the time (like me) , then cutting a hole in the roof is maybe not such a good idea ...

Just saw this and figured I'd throw in my .02...

I put a skylight and roof hatch in and, in my experience with every RV I've ever owned having roof leaks, I built mine up on a curb. If you get that seam between the roof and the hatch up out of the water, it can't leak. all the seal has to do is fend off falling rain and wind-driven rain while on the road...which is easy enough to build for. We get only slightly less rain here on the west coast and that's how it's done on boats that are out in the weather all the time so I'm not worried about its success on my little trailer.

In keeping with the Thrifty Alternative thread, I came across this lumber today at Habitat's Restore.

I think the fellow at the store said they are 1x3 and 1x4. I think he got the sizing wrong. Either way, I took a closer look at them and they seem perfect for cutting down to size on a table saw. They are a buck a piece.

Didn't have the truck so another trip is in order

We’ve actually had this happen ,not extreme but very noticable ... Most of our towing experience is towing boats , and in those days , we’d just stop and move weight ( Ice chests, tackle boxes and gas cans ) forward in the boat which took care of the wiggles...
