I got some foam samples finally arrive from the big smoke today.... only an hour away but took 3 weeks lol.
They sent 20 mm sample for the walls and 35 mm for the floor and ceiling.
They are 2500mm X 90mm in dimension witch is an uncommon size here and the 19mm is grouved about 3 mm deep every 50 mm or 2 inches on one side and the 35mm grouved both sides, it's super light and fairly rigid I recall it's made by dowe ... any one familiar with this product as I plan on making good headway on my TD over Xmas and need to order it no.
Regards Dale

I ended up going down and seeing the stuff for myself.
It's 25mm or 1 inch and 35mm or inch and and a quarter I think it is.
I'll put some pics up once I've resized it.
Sounds like the goods tho

You know, I love my little Aliner that suddenly appeared in my life and halted the foamie build plans. It is very well equipped for more luxurious camping than I'd thought we'd be doing. Yet I still can't bring myself to sell the items I'd gathered for the foamie toy hauler. Can't quit reading the Foamie forum either. If bro-in-law was in town more I'd work on convincing him to do the build with me so he & my sis could camp with us. Don't think that will happen though. It's too hard to plan a build with a long haul trucker.

Maybe build on your own for them?

Made it through the thread! :?

Here are my notes on a super simple box foamie:

Foamie Build

Super Simple Box, 48x96x48

Old boat trailer, 48" wide frame area

Cut 2” foam panels to size (2 – 44x48 (front, rear), 3 – 48x96 (sides and roof))
Apply kraft paper over TB III, both sides of foam to all foam parts
Make floor using 1x2 frame, openings filled with 3/4” foam, skinned with 5mm underlayment top and bottom
Glue sides, front and rear panels to floor and each other with Gorilla Glue
Glue roof to walls with Gorilla Glue
Round all corners a bit
Glue Fiberglass Drywall Tape to all corners, seams and joins inside and out with TB III
Cover FDT with kraft paper and TB III
Paint with exterior acrylic latex paint
Cut in door in rear, sailboat washboards with hatch on top? Or side door with canvas hinge?
Cut in and build 2 dorade vents
Cut a few small windows on sides, rabbet, glue in plexiglass
Drop onto trailer, bolt down

I still need to work out a cheap and simple door.

I am not sure I will build this, because I am getting ideas how to make a more aerodynamic version. I need to wait till spring anyway, so I have some time to design.

WoW! You read through this whole thread and this was your first post.........?

Way to stay stealth. Hey, maybe that would be a good name for your foamie. Welcome to the madness........

Might check out some of the build threads too.

That's probably the best idea. Before I bought the Aliner or even found TNTTT I knew no one camper would be the right thing all the time. The more I searched for ideas the more I knew there would be big compromises. Told BF that in the long run having two different campers would probably be the answer. At first he thought I was nuts but, surprisingly, he came to agree with me. Though I love my little Aliner & know it would be the one most used, I still would like a teardrop-ish trailer. So maybe I should build a second camper for me that sis & bro-in-law could borrow. Hmmmm...

Madness this stuff is.

Just wanted to pop in and wish everyone of my foamlings a very Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all!

The show season is now over for us, thank goodness for that. This was my first real year involved in showing and I have to say it will be my last. That is exhausting and not to mention expensive. So now that its over, I am trying to get my finances back in order and have discussed with the "one who should obey" about fixing up the foamie. He has agreed. So I am hopeful that sometime in Feb/March a revamping of sorts will start to take place.

Other than doing the horse thing, not much is going on with me. Haven't done any cupcakes lately, but have been on a cookie decorating binge. Tried to make a topsy-turvy cake covered in fondant. Well that was a mess.

Hope all has been going well for the rest of you in foam-land.

:wine:

May the foam be with you.
