GJ, I think many of us found that gluing on the inside fabric /chipboard , paneling , whatever, is much easier if done while in pieces , before the cabin was assembled .. some type of covering inside makes it Nice and stronger. But just paint works too , it’s the outer Skin that locks it all together into one piece ( like a sock ) .

Does that help ?

Hey All,

Been some time since I checked in. Since the last time, I have used the foamie fair bit, stripped down a pop up for the frame, and, last year did a 6x10 cargo camper for my wife and I to do some Ohio State Park camping. Now I have decided to transfer the original foamie over to the pop up frame and have started to build a wider foamie on the original trailer. The most interesting thing about moving the original foamie box to the new trailer was the opportunity to inspect the floor and the box as a whole to see how it has fared over seven years. Winters it was stored in the barn but all summer it has sat outside. All in all, it is in very good condition. Since building, it has had a repaint, a second door added, and I sprayed the underside with automotive undercoat when I was working on another project.

So far I have built a floor for the new ttt and getting started in walls. I'll not be on here every day, but when I have time, I will get some pics up. The new ttt will be 66inches wide to maximize the trailer width. The length will be 8 feet. My goals are to maximize internal space for the footprint. It will be a square back with just a little drop in the roof, about 4 inches, towards the front. The weight will fall between the original tear and the cargo camper. The intended use will be for my wife and I to take some longer trips without having to take the cargo camper.

BTW I am really impressed by the efforts that you all have made in building your foamies! :applause:

Pat, Great to hear from you ! You’ve been Busy !!! 8)
We did that moving the body thing and surprisingly , it was so easy , a normal trailer would have been much more difficult … And yes these Foamies easily last a long time in adverse conditions …with minimum maintenance if properly designed for the locality … :D
Can’t wait to see the pics of the new build !!! :pictures:

This is early on in the construction of my new foamie. The floor is a composed of 1/2 inch ply, 2 inch foam, and 5mm underlayment. All interior walls are skinned with the 5mm underlay. The walls are connected to the floor with cleats.

I cut out the window openings before skinning the foam.

I added these tongue jacks to use as levelers, then removed the axle to get the frame in my shop.

All skinned and primed. This shows the rear entry which is offset to allow the addition of a vent and ac vents in the wall next to the door. The roof, front, and rear walls are skinned with 1 piece of canvas from Big Duck.

I purchased 2 windows and the door from Tri State Surplus in Hudson Michigan. The folks there were awesome to work with. They sell stuff on Ebay but shipping gets expensive so my wife and I camped in NW Ohio at Harrison Lake State Park and took a day trip to Tri State. Harrison Lake is only 20 minutes South of Tri State.
The floor is treated with the mix then is coated with the same fence post paint that I used on my first TD.

BTW, Thanks for the welcome back GPW. I am very busy with my Grandkids but the cool thing is that my Grandson helped me attach the foam to the interior ply.
