It must be nice to have "peoples" to do your manual labor. I have an 18 yo son who should by now understand what work entails but he apparently did not get the manual labor gene. When he was younger he was asked about his lack of DIY skills, his response then was "I'll have peoples to do that for me". Must be nice...

When I was watching the videos on the adhesion tests I had wondered about using a different type of primer.

The Valspar primer is a good all around primer for painting most things like walls and such, but there are better primers out there that you can use when you really need things to grip.

Gripper is one of them. I think Zinser makes another that's better than the one that was used in the test.. They used to have displays at the box stores showing them on all sorts of different things like bare metal, ceramics and laminate.

Louella asked in my build thread about why I was using canned foam to join panels instead of GG. That vid bears out what I found as well as far as bond strength goes. The added bonus is that, unlike GG which is much harder than foam, canned foam sands just like the rest of the foam, so you can hide the joints much more easily.

I watched the video. Question? How does Gliden Gripper dry/setup? Between foam sheets water or solvents can not evaporate so does this stuff use a catalyst similar to epoxy? I would like to know before I buy some. But we here making campers will seldom be gluing sheets together to get a thicker hunk so GG is still what we will be using as it can fill gaps. Gliden Gripper does sound like good stuff for the outer/inner covering.

So is the Gripper just for gluing the canvas and laminating foam together? Or can it be used to glue foam together at joints too. I can see that it would be much easier to sand over GG and not as messy as Great Stuff....

The Gripper is probably best used for sticking the canvas to the foam and sealing/priming the canvas for final paint. Laminating the foam is probably better done with either the spray foam or contact cement(water based). While the gripper might work for laminating, the dry time would take forever. Contact cement dries before you stick the pieces together. I doubt that gripper would at all be acceptable for edge gluing foam. Gorilla glue or spray foam or any of the available foam adhesives would pe the preferred choice there.

Just for some interesting reading , here’s what the RC plane guys are doing , granted on a smaller scale , but with similar results to ours , and some innovative thinking as they go along .... floor wax ? Na unh ???
