Thanks Dale .... we’ll have to clean it up put a fan inside and dry it out thoroughly , then paint on some of the “Mix” , and then more interior paint .. Outside gets filled (spray foam) sealed and re covered with an additional canvas strip over the outside ( a “patch” ) ... Thinking of adding a "drip edge" made of foam around the front , since the one over the rear door worked so well ... With our constant Humidity and wet climate , we have to do everything we can to prevent water getting in ... especially for something that must live outside ...

Another drawing .... cross section of the front where the leak occurred ... and the fix ...

Sorry to hear this .... water is like rust, insidious and never sleeps .
Where exactly did the leak occur in the before picture ?
Did all of the unsupported painted canvas rot ?

I'm looking at using a product my waterproofing supply mob use, it's a 2 pack epoxy membrane that can be brushed rolled or sprayed and dries extremely hard but still flexible.
Maybe you could use something similar and bring it an inch or something up the sidewall and take it underneath aswell.
It's paint able but can be left unpainted to....just another option.

Tac, the little dark spot is where the water wicked in... and yes , unsupported (painted on one side only) canvas rotted quickly exposed to air and water ... :frightened:

Something to be aware of in the future ... canvas must completely Contact the structure ... or be waterproofed after attachment (the mix ) ... no air gaps , no matter how small ... Lesson Learned !!!

Dale, I try to avoid epoxy products ... after all these years of working with it , we’ve developed an allergy to it ... skin breaks out in red spots ... :o

Today , an old friend of mine (Capn’ Mike) is coming over to finally get the boat :o (the wife is Ecstatic !!! :woohoo: ) Spent most of yesterday afternoon cleaning all the leaves and compost out the boat ... what a mess , but it came clean with much shoveling and hosing .... :phew:
Best of all , he’s bringing his own trailer , which means I still have the current trailer to fool with ... that’s beside the one I have in the backyard too ;) .. Spring is going to be a Busy time ...trailer building :dancing

Oh , and by the way ... :o Today, going to spray the inside floor /rib with a bleach spray to kill the mold , then put a small fan blowing on it for 12 hours , which dry it out nicely and prepare it for an application of “the mix” ... I’m thinking of removing the front inner panel (chipboard) and get all in that area, maybe spray a little Great Stuff into lacking spaces ... It’s one of those while you’re here things .... might as do it well right ... “while we’re here”

Had I gotten this right the first time , I wouldn’t have to be doing this at all ... Another valuable lessoned learned ...

HI GPW,

Forum member prem, posted this in his thread in the Cargo Trailer Section:

viewtopic.php?p=1106573#p1106573

Here's the website link it's from:

Notice any similarities ?

That thing is pretty, but looks small. Also on a tandem axle trailer, so it must be very heavy!

You know ... thinking if we used the circular ribs and just stopped it where it was the trailer width , we could have a wide camper on a regular trailer ...like the one shown in this picture below ... We have the round ribs for the top , but on the FS transitioned to the vertical instead of continuing on around ..

Sorry , I can’t resist the urge to make an exploratory drawing of the subject ... 6’ wide camper on a 4’ trailer bed sure is interesting ...
