Very interesting build, like your floor and trailer in one. I am designing a 7' by 12' foamie that would sleep 4 and trying to stay under 1000lbs as well.

You will have to make the frame heavier mine has some flex and is sometimes hard to open or close the door i went to light on mine if did it again I would go with 2x4x190 wall tubing all the way front to back and make the hitch all in one. We did not stay under 1000# we are at 1800# but that's with food and water for two weeks camping in the up on lake superior about 50 yards from the water

Thanks for sharing your build here, I just found it and read most of it. I do not know if these questions were asked, but anyway: how do you feel this foam trailer performs for cold or hot weather? How is painted canvas holding up the test of time and weather on yourbuild, what glue/paint have you used?
