oh i see. wow, that would mean someone would have to go thru this whole thread again, and pick out those areas you mention, then sort thru it and add to proper specific threads. that is exactly what i tried to do in the begining.

Start a list with the categories listed - then go through the entire thread (with help) and just add the link to the page. Every time something new emerges - Just add the link to the list

Hi all Foamlings andd Foamanistas,

I posted [a couple days ago] a suggestion about this that I want to include
here too now [I wasn't aware this thread was still active then] and expand
on it some.

The suggestion was/is:
From Here On Out: Keep the Big Thread going, But, If someone posts
something in the
big thread that would also be useful elsewhere, then post it also in the
more narrow focused thread on that topic/area/matter. Do this either by
cut and paste, or by putting in a link to the original post [with some basic
info like: a short explanation, pg#, where the post is located - e.g. - "3rd
post down", with the date/time as further identification if needed etc. esp.
if done as a link].

It'd be great also do this with the existing Big Thread too - a big job for
sure. Perhaps that could be done little by little by volunteers. We could
start by getting a listing of sticky-type topics agreed upon, first off, and
then go on from there - - Perhaps divvying-up the Big Thread by pages,
for review, e.g. someone review pp1-30, the next do pp31-60 and so on
and post the relevant info into the narrower focused sticky type threads.

We wouldn't want to step on anyone's toes etc., as postings do 'belong' to
the original posters, so perhaps doing it by links would be the best way
for referencing the older posts into the narrowed focus sticky type threads.

Maybe a new sticky could/should be set up to manage/coordinate this
process if such is/would be agreed upon - pick a start date to get it all
started, pick the total page range of the Big thread to be done [pg1-XXX],
divide it up into doable chunks to review, and then solicit volunteers for
each 'chunk' to review with a sign up sheet, so-to-speak, to avoid
duplicate efforts. It doesn't all have to be done NOW, either, but at a reasonable pace.

Sorry, I stepped a way for a bit. Swampjeep is on the track of what I had in mind. And yes, I did volunteer to try to poke through that entire thread and pull out the good stuff (tested or untested , and stated so). I want to break it down by area (foam choice, glue choices, covering materials, etc) so that people can zoom in on what they want. If we lock the thread, we will also keep it from growing into the megathread. Keeps people from posting questions or new ideas. They can do that in the megathread or other threads and we would gladly answer those questions in those locations. I would leave it to you as moderator to decide who, if anyone, has editorial rights to change this "how to" thread besides you. I'm sure we will change the thread as the time goes by and the ideas keep flying in, but that's good. People can take the ideas they want and discard the ideas they don't. The more ideas we get the better "foamies" we build... I can do it now since I am still only 15 - 20% on the rehab for the arm. Typing at the computer is about all I can do at the moment. As soon as I am able, I'll be back to building...

i am not ignoring anyones comments. i did put in for help on this from mike. (i know i did not want to bother him, but). in the beginning i tried to do this, and there was a reason why it would not be done. so have a little more patience and we'll see what he has to say. i cant remember what the reasons were in the begining. so just give me some time to check things out.
