Been fairing, sanding and painting. I found that I could not tell how far I was sanding into the foam while fairing the edges so I decided to paint the trailer with Gripper since Gripper does not like to sand so well. Now if I see pink I know I am sanding into the foam.

Trailer building around here is starting to slow down. Too much other things going on and now the weather is changing to cold. In fact it snowed here this morning. First fall of the year. I did manage to get the bottom edge of the hatch glued on. I used 2"x3" flashing and installed one inside and one outside, overlapping the two on the bottom. Makes a strong channel for edge protection and a hard point for latches and maybe lights.

That looks real good. I must say, your "discovery" of using flashing for edge protection moves the state of the art ahead by a lot... I'd have done things differently if I were intelligent enough to think of it. :? There'd be no trim pieces around the sides. I think it worked out OK but that was more work than I needed to do. :NC :( :o

Well the weather is starting to come about here so I am hoping to get started on the trailer again. Thought I was going to get it done last year, but it was not to be. Lots of things going on here with Permaculture designs so I will have to work in some trailer time here and there. So many projects, so little time...... :?

George, maybe the best idea is get it usable, then keep adding the little things later as you have time ...

GPW is correct, get camping, finish the exterior, get the doors and windows done, a basic galley is all you need to go camping. Once you have the trailer camping, then you can work out the other details.
My tear was road worthy and sleep-able since the second month after I started building it. It took a month before it had a skin to cover the plywood. It took a full year until it had a second door, 110V wiring, a use-able galley, and normal size windows. The third year I added doors that didn't leak, redid the running lights with LED, and added a wiley window. This year will be second wiley window, for sure, and maybe, finally, roof insulation and a headliner.
Waiting until "it is finished" will make you miss some good trips.

Thanks, it is pretty close to being done now.

I now have two tent trailers and a 25 foot travel trailer, so if I need to get out I am good.

Already planning a standy for later this year, I hope. Talked the wife into selling the 25 footer and using some of the money for the big one. It will be a full blown self contained 16 foot unit. Looking forward to getting that one going, but first landscape prep, plants, chicken coop. Chickens will be here next week and plants are 8 weeks away and lots of work to do before they get here...... :frightened:

Hold on.... the chickens only show up for the good weather ??? (Fair weather breed, Non-snowbirds ) Guess in the snow , they’d turn into Frozen Chickens ... another suspect Foamie’ road hazard...

Nope, that is when they start to sell hatchlings around here. They should be fine for the cold weather we get here, or so they say. They might just get a foamy of there own.....

Post offices sound and smell a lot different this time of year. Yes, they mail chicks.
