That would probably work. From what I have read about composting toilets. Any sawdust should work. Pellets I feel pine/fir would be better as I think they would break apart better than a hardwood pellet. But how should I know for sure. I live in Idaho. Hardwoods are a sacred tree here and forbidden to burn.

Wolf, I would love to have the cheap beetle killed pine pellets you guys in that end of the country, pellet prices on the east coast are higher thanks to European power plants.

thanks to the glo-bull warming hysteria, Europe made it so tough on power plants that burn coal that many have switched to burning wood pellets instead. since there is this little pond inbetween the EU and east coast, and there is a huge demand for pellets, they ship shiploads of pellets from the east coast to the EU to fire power plants. After all nothing is as green as chopping a tree down, chipping it up, hammering it into flour, drying the wood flour to a very low moisture level, then extruding the flour through a die using steam, then drying the finished pellets, trucking the pellets to the dock with diesel trucks, and loading it into a ship that burns fuel almost as dirty as pure crude oil. (but don't worry the pellets are carbon neutral)
just like corn-ethanol and electric cars it only makes sense to the uninformed and the people who make money off the suckers...

sorry for the thread hack, we are way off track from the great camper created and finished by some great people.

It's spring time !! Yay !!
So I pulled the Big Pink out a week or so ago...

Only some minor details needed done. I sanded and sealed the bottom of the door with the "mix". Water sits under the door during heavy rain, but doesn't run inside. I also redid the hinges and changed to solid brass screws since they were rusting a little bit.

I found a Model "T" bumper at a car swap meet a while back for 10 bucks, a little paint, some tinkering and fabbed up some taillight brackets.
It fit nicely just inside the outer walls.

The Big Pink's first outing of the year was a great success.
We met up with fellow Tear Jerkers in Va. Beach. The weather was perfect, there were some awesome campers, and a lot of really nice people. (we missed you not being there, Louella !)

Glad you had a good time. I love that park. I was thinking this would be my camping year, but its looking like another year of the (or for the) horse. :wine:

Do you have other pics to share of the weekend? How far do you live from VA BCH?

Re: The Big Pink ...On the road again

Postby tac422 » Mon May 04, 2015 8:37 am

Just spent a GREAT weekend in the TD visiting with some awesome people!

131348

Drove 5 hours mostly in the rain, but it cleared up in the afternoon.
But shortly after dark it started to come down hard and got pretty cold.
We just smiled at each other, and turned the heater on :)
So glad we weren't in a tent !

 Hey, don't damage the Big Pink! I think about it all the time, and you can think about my CT if you want to! :D

Where was your last rip, no bike time?

HI Bob,
Don't worry, We never came close to any type of damage. :D (Even had a license plate made while we were there.)
131350 131352
We thoroughly enjoyed the long weekend.
No bicycling this time, but motorcycling instead.
The downside was we had take 2 tow vehicles. Used 1 TV to tow the Big Pink, and anther to tow the sidecar rig.

Our group rented the whole place. (just realized, this would be a awesome place for a Tear Drop weekend !!! We should talk  ) They have water and electrical hookups at the campsites. A Park Kitchen and covered seating, etc...
The park has antique steam and gas engine shows a couple times a year. So there's lot of things to see on the grounds, including their own antique sawmill and a onsite pottery.
There's a show coming up May16-17 if you're interested .
We highly recommend it if you're in the area.
