Laura before I got my hatch on I somehow slid one side of the body about an inch out of kilter, I was in such a hurry to get it built I couldnt get the hatch to line up so as crazy as it sounds it just let it be a little crooked. my whole building time I keep saying it is just a hard tent not a work of art. It is just as out as me!!!! you are doing fine and like KC said sometimes we just cut off a little here and add a little there. That is why I like foam it is repairable and forgiving. Just be glad it is not a 50dollar plus piece of fine plywood that may not fit. I keep telling my self it is ok to make adjustments. I think someone said Artful expansions and artful deleting.
I really like your hinges. and that cute little puppie!!

The pup in the avatar is the foreman the day I called the breeder about him.

I love that picture.

Another day lost to other chores.

I did get a new thread tree built for my friends serger which had broken, and was holding her up on finishing important things like her kids halloween costumes.

Well before I got to cutting on the hatch to make it fit I thought I'd better get my bulkheads in and see if that changed anything about the way the hatch fit.

The answer was no. Which is good and bad. Because it's still wrong but at least it means I can do my line scribing while not trying to close myself in the galley.

So these pieces have been primed where they are white and do not yet have anything on the floral parts. But that is on my list it's suppose to be warm enough to paint this weekend! I test fitted these pieces for the first time since any of them had fabric or paint on them. I had as you may recall cut grooves in my sidewalls for the foam boards to fit into. It appears that things swelled ever so slightly in the intervening months. I had to sand off a bit of each end to get everything in. That said it all went together great, and while there are a few visible gaps now they all close up with just the littlest bit of pressure so I figure some glue and some clamps and I'll be golden! I think I like having left the inside of the over foot cabinet floral. And the view from the galley hatch is cute, if I do say so myself. Obviously a counter will still yet be fitted in there. I have wooden blocks glued into the foam to mount it to at a later date. (but it isn't relevent towards weatherproofing so it can wait a bit)

I cut the fabric/glue that went over my slots. I then actually trimmed out half an inch or so of the fabric from the center of each slot. This gives enough tail to tuck in and look tidy but not too much bulk in the slot.

This is the cabinet at the foot end of the bed. I think I will leave the flowers visible there. That was still up for debate until last night. (Of course pending finding some way to coat the fabric and preserve the integrity of the floral pattern.) I have little 3d printed plastic studs I can hang bungie net from to make "doors" to keep stuff from migrating out if necessary. A few ounces of pressure lines up the edges of the "boards" and makes that all look much more tidy. I"ll be gluing them together so that will not be a gap in the future.

Floral Galley! that's the hatch in progress sitting on the top of the trailer.

The head of the bed cabinets. I will be making doors to cover the openings. (once again not relative to weather tightness and therefore will be being put off for a bit. (this gap will also close easily and I'll be gluing the top to the vertical part as well)

LT, looking pretty darn GOOD eh !!!! 8) :applause:

Of all the Foamie writings , I don’t recall anything being said about Foamies having to be Perfect ... :o (well maybe KC ? ) A little off here and there makes no difference at all , and best just don’t go pointing it out to people ... ;) Goodness knows , my Foamies are FAR from perfect , but still are totally functional and everything we ever wanted it to be ... “Perfect" for our needs !!! 8) :D

Tonight I made some more progress on the trailer. The best thing in the world for trailer progress is either a buddy who really wants to help, or a deadline. I've got both.

So my friend came over and we mounted a piece of aluminum 1"x1"x1/8" L to the front bottom edge of the trailer frame, pressed up onto the foam that makes the bottom of the front curve. I hope to update this post with photos soon but my phone was dying so no new photos. I put some butyl tape on the side of the L against the covered foam. Now there is basically no light visible through from the ground even with the bright shop light shining up! I still plan to put a bit of Great Stuff down in there to make sure it's all sealed up tight.

I also pulled out all the test fit dividers and shelves and got paint on them. (well on one side of the 2 sided ones) Tomorrow I'll make another go at the other sides. Also at getting polyurethane on a test piece.

If all goes well then this weekend I'll permanently install the bulkheads and the windows as soon as I get screws (which are on order I wanted stainless which I couldn't find locally in the size/shape I wanted)

That leaves the hatch, which I scribed a line on tonight and the door to go before winter. I am still unclear on my plan for making the door weathertight. Who knows what chores I might do to avoid having to figure that out. I have already been touching up house paint.

Well I got the headboard installed permanently. It looks pretty good. There was a tiny bit of GG ooze that is slightly tan colored. I'll have to fix that with a bit of paint when I go through and touch up any last bits.

I also got the underside all done but for lights. I've got the fenders in place and all the exposed wood, and the rolled over fabric edge are painted.

I got the windows in last night. Permanently in even. Butyl tape and screws! I do need to get one slightly longer/bigger screw and drill out the aluminum to take it. THe window wouldn't pull down tight in one corner where I had a temporary screw holding it in during test fitting.

I also solved my hatch skew issue. Monday night I had two friends hold the hatch in place (I placed it) and then I crawlled inside, scribed a line to cut off to square up the sides. Last night I glued in the hinge renforcement strip! Tonight I think I'll plane off any GG ooze and fit it in place possibly with the hinge actually holding it (Maybe I'll just use a bit of ratchet strap and some screws. I have one that went awry under a muffler while it was loaned out and it's too small for any real use now.)

Once that's held in place I can scribe a line for the bottom edge. Cut that off, put it back on the trailer and mark the blocks for the latches and props. Inset those and and latch it up. Then round off my edges to match the trailer. And I am off to the races with canvassing it.

Well it snowed. And now it is getting quite cold. I did manage to get both cars and the trailer in the garage. Only because we replaced a van with a Honda Fit.
This weekend I am dragging the hatch in the house for canvassing.

I did a lot of glueing in my living room. The glue came right up off the wood floor.
Thou can still work on it and that is great.

Yes, I agree. That window looks AWESOME! I've been away for a while, I'll have to read through this thread and see what I missed. I believe the OP was just starting the floor, possibly cutting out the walls when I vanished this summer.
