Faux Woodgrain interior

Postby mezmo » Fri Mar 14, 2014 1:03 am

I came across this build by a UKer that emulates an
Australian "Bondwood" caravan from the 1950s-1960s.
It is a stickbuilt, plywood [bondwood is a type of
plywood evidently] skinned TT/TTT. Pg 3 shows them
covering the roof with calico fabric and paint.

Page 2 has the amazing faux wood-graining interior
finish that was done by a friend of the builder who
"is of the old school of wagon painter", per the
builder. The artist friend also paints Gypsy vardos
and I'd assume other similar types of wagons.
What a fantastic interior this would be for a Foamie!

Incredible paint job on the interior. Enjoyed reading the posts by the other members of that forum as we all "speak" English.

I watched an update of a 1900's building on the University of Nevada, Reno campus when I worked there. All the door and window frames were metal painted to look like wood. It was interesting watching the painters create these faux finishes. You can buy faux painting tools now. There's a youtube video of a guy who faux painted a garage door. I think it would look awesome inside a trailer!!!

Wood graining is really pretty easy to do , and with some common tools (cheap) ... There must be a million You Tube videos on how to do it ...
The “decorative" painting and striping , takes a LOT more practice ... :frightened: ...best find a tole painter in your area... ;) http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=tol ... &FORM=IGRE
