Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I've been pouring through the foamie thread for quite some time and I think I understand that the only places you might need framing is around window, door and possibly vent cut outs. Also inserting hard points where you expect to attach things to your walls.

The one thing that is still eluding me is... how do I attach the foamie to the trailer? Are the walls glued and skinned to a plywood floor and the floor bolted to the trailer? If so I assume 5/8 or 3/4 plywood is what is needed.

I'm kind of stumped on this.

That is it. Glue down the foam with gorilla glue. My half inch OSB is actually screwed to a 2x4 frame. That is attached to the trailer. But only so I could go wider than my wheels.

Well almost entirely.

Most people have wrapped their canvas under the wood to hold the foam.

I am about to put 6" wide bias strips of linen on the joint. Before then putting the canvas over it.

2x4 frame under the plywood floor. Good idea, as I also want to go wider than the trailer frame, and was thinking of having a steel extensions welded onto the frame. This helps a lot and gives me more ideas.

You could look at the early parts of my build thread. Also there is another guy who I have been copying a lot from who had MUCH better pictures.

I epoxied the walls to the 1/2" floor and then wrapped fiberglass down and around. About 6" up the wall and about 4" under the floor. You could do the same with some glue and canvas but I had already committed to fiberglass and epoxy

I used hurricane ties to attach a 1x4 frame to the trailer. This raised it up and allowed me to widen it. My trailer (in progress) is 5'6" wide on a 4' HF trailer. Inside is completely flat and fits a queen sized spring mattress. I have to get on my computer to get you the link to my build thread for pics though.

Doesn't that sound familiar but my wifes upset that I've been working on a tree house for the boys instead of getting the door back on the camper.


And for input on your question mine is framed with PVC then foam fitted in the frame, the PVC is metal strapped to the floor.
