Joe , our favorite polyurethane varnish for ‘the Mix’ is the really cheap stuff , usually less than 20 bucks a gallon , the thick nasty stuff that never seemed to dry at first ... That’s Perfect for "the mix" ... The Minwax brand is so thinned already in the can , it’s not really a good deal at all ... ( stuff for hobbyists :R ) I used to get the gallons at an old hardware store , I think it was sold for varnishing floors ... It was somewhat yellowish in the can but thinned was clear ...

Got the rest of the roof glued on!Image
Also got some wallpaper (left over from another project) in

And switches for "porch light", vent fan and interior lights wired in.

Here's my interior lights BTW.. Image
LED strips from Amazon. I'm really happy with them so far. Very thin, plenty bright enough and dimmable. They come with a little remote control that reviews say gives out quickly so I ran wires to a switch so I can wire it in when that happens..

Said only one teardrop builder ever. Mostly people make them longer to make backing easier. So before you lop it off think carefully. I'm looking to make mine longer probably, someday. In the mean time I just back it by the muscle method.

Laura has a good point .... my pickup bumper shows a good many incidents trying to back up or turn around with a short tongue trailer ... we never did that with a boat eh !!! ... :frightened:

That's true.. I can only shorten it about 10in without rebuilding it so that's all I'll do... As far as backing I pull a trailer for work all day everyday so I can back but this camper is so light I can pick it up and wheel it around by hand..

Looks good. Love that front bike platform! Very nice addition. Hard to judge lengths from the picture. Will shortening the tongue put the bikes in danger of damage in the event of a jack knife. Not you accidentally jackknifing, mind you, but perhaps evil leprechauns or gremlins or garden gnomes gone astray. (Says the girl who didn't jackknife her own trailer so it must have been gremlins... yeah, gremlins... that's it, gremlins.)

First time foamy build

Postby bamajoe » Wed May 11, 2016 7:13 pm

The bike platform was originally designed to haul my motorcycle. Since I started this project I've traded my xs650 for a '77 cb750 that's almost to big to fit... So I guess I'll see..

Joe, the MC may be a bit too much !!! :o The MC should really ride mostly near centered over the axle , (bit forward to balance the trailer) .. ( Separate dedicated MC trailer !!! ) 8)

That's why I have the wheels so far forward.. It was a pretty light bike but I've sold it... I'm on the look for another small bike so I'll see...

Just have to put more beer in the back to balance the load. :D
Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?
