Sleep platform

Read up a bit more on the generic Benroy... Now I need to get a 5x8 trailer :/ , since I'm building for myself I may stick with a 4 x 8, but a 5 x 8 would let me put a wider mattress in.

Ned There are a few trailers on Syracuse Craigslist today 1/16 in the sizes you are looking for 200 or less.

Sleep platform

Postby Ned B » Fri Feb 05, 2016 5:35 am

Good morning y'all, and after a couple of weeks on the back burner I'm putting the trailer on my to do soon list. As much as I would love a 5x8 Benroy I've decided that's too complex. I saw this thread today: http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?t=65252#p1159199

And Anna 's basic little 4x8 was the seed crystal in a super saturated solution; I saw her trailer and it was clear to me that what I needed was not a "real" tear drop with the fancy Galley and all of the bells and whistles. I need a place to lay down grab a few hours of sleep I get back on the road. My tow vehicle needs as light as possible, so I've decided to go with the 4 x 8 HF non-folding trailer. Although I have "all the tools" and can easily do the woodworking part of the project , I want to keep it as simple as possible. Even joining two pieces of plywood for the floor etc. is more than I want to do. The only "luxury" I really want is a Basic 12 V system so I can charge my phone and run A fan for ventilation, and a couple of led lights.

Coed road trip! Lori & I are heading to see my folks in awhile. Hope that dusting is all we have to deal with. At least gas is staying cheap...

I know that exit well. And gas 2 1/2 hrs further south of it is around $1.499.

Sleep platform

Postby Ned B » Thu Feb 11, 2016 1:42 am

So far I've had a pleasant visit with my folks. I think Lori has a much better idea of what we're facing now, and she should understand that I've got to get down here more often.
On the teardrop front I'm leaning back to the generic Benroy again... 5' wide gets me the queen size mattress. I'm thinking of building with an eye towards resale down the line.

Question for GPW and or KC

Keeping in mind "as lightweight as possible" is my goal, do I need the cross bracing, or will the sock hold it together for me?
