Althought not for this topic, I agree not to agree at times. Isn't this what it is all about....exchanging ideas and thoughs?

Yeah , If we all thought the same , nobody would be thinking ... And we’d all likely still be building wooden trailers ... :frightened:

I apologize for my enthusiasm , but I just love the idea of building a comfortable , usable trailer for under $1000.00 ... And not requiring a shop filled with big tools to do it ... and then , there’s "the Ballast" ...

I still don't see a better method than ply treated with epoxy or the mix.

Best so far eh , but treated OSB isn’t so bad either , but even Heavier ... :o
We have to get the Marine plywood... That’s very pricy , but if it lasts ... We know the foam will last a very long time ... can you imagine a hundred years from now and all the Vintage Foam trailers on the market , still camp-able ...

That is close to what I did. My floor is painted canvas on the bottom with 2" EPS and FRP on the top. Very light, warm and will not rot. I would have to say I think it have about the same flex as 1/2 plywood. With metal on the bottom it would be like 3/4 plywood.

You guys are definitely on to something here ...  8)

And with a little looking around we can get foam with greater density , making it even better as part of a composite floor ... The Blue /Pink foam we usually find is ~ 2 lb./cu.ft. Imagine how much stronger 4 or 6 lb foam would be... :D

CL, True , but some people ignore the floor .. thinking the ply alone will survive ...
But then again , it’s the nature of wood t take in water ...all those little tubes .... capillary action , working against us ... Actually OSB is better as a wood product, because the tubes only run so far , not full length of the product ... Still looking for a better floor materiaL , one impervious to water ...
