Hi Glen,

We love the Mad Dash. It's a return to our roots... a basic teardrop with a bed and a galley. Unlike like the first one we built which was really heavy, we love the weight of the foamie. And that's thanks to you. You taught me everything I know about foam! :D

I also like that I was able to build low cost, on a HF trailer. I also like that we were able to use affordable canvas rather than expensive fiberglass and resin.

As you recall we built the Mad Dash from start to campable in just 2 months, and that was just building on weekends, because I still have to work during the week. We could never achieve that with wood, aluminum, fiberglass etc...

And having used the mix on all the wood, even the furniture that I am building this summer, and then covering all the wood in the walls with canvas and titebond II, I am optimistic that the Mad Dash will last a long time.

We are going to build another foamie someday, either in the winter warrior style or in the giant teardrop style. Either way, it will also be foam.

The next task is to really stretch the limits of the floor...

And so I've gone the whole loop, from simple to fancy and complicated, back to simple again. There is certainly a benefit to keeping things simple, especially for newbies on the forum. And that's what I am trying to capture with the Generic Foamie design. All the benefits of the Mad Dash, with all the benefits of the simplicity of foam.

Is that what you wanted to know?

Mike...

I expect towing wind creates a suction on the gap, due to the venturi effect.
Based on my own teardrop galley it works without a seal.
Five hours each way, with frequent rain showers, and no leaks

So, would that hatch style work for the Nookery? It would be vertical. :)

Bonnie , here’s an idea ... easy , just cut... add a “lip” of new foam inside that will act like the seal Mike has depicted above ... and then put in a wall ,shelves , whatever you want ... 8)

... and you may need to shim the inner frame pieces away from the inner wall/ceiling surfaces a tad to allow for whatever covering and a little bit of freedom of movement. ;)

Glen,

I understand how the blue foam comes out the top and the sides. How does it come out the bottom?

reference the blue foam in this pic.
