exterior paint for foamie

Postby rustytoolss » Thu Jun 08, 2017 8:33 pm

Within a few (or more ) weeks I should be able to paint my foamie. Got a few questions. 1 do you guys paint the body before installing thing like windows/vents etc, so that there is paint under the window flange surfaces ? 2 has anyone used the type of paint used to stop water from seeping through concrete block basement walls ? did not know if that may be something of any value ?

Rusty , Yes , paint first , then windows … ( all about protecting the fabric ... ;) )
We’ve used concrete block Fill … a Thicker primer …
What do you guys use on basement walls ? ( we don’t really have basements here , water table too high )

Hi, I did 2 coats of gripper primer , then installed the windows and all and then did the final coats of paint after that.

I think my reasoning was because I used (adhesive) caulk behind the window/door flanges there was some squeeze out and that got wiped off with my finger, leaving a bit on the primer. Even though it was clear I wanted paint over it so it wouldn't look different over time. Often caulk will hold dirt or mildew and standout against a nice paint job.

Did you leave the concrete block fill paint "as" your final exterior body paint surface ?

This will be my Foamie's first body paint to cover the canvas/TBII. So I want to make sure to do it the correct way. 8) :applause:

Its really not too critical , sorta’ like painting the house …. same procedures … apply the paint to a clean dry surface ( canvas ) and use Good paint ( read the instructions on the can) ...
