Making walls perpendicular to floor?

Postby steepski » Thu Nov 23, 2017 1:13 pm

Been slowly working on my foamie for the past few months. Thank you to everyone on this forum for all the great info and advice.

I've gotten my floor platform all done, and also have my foam wall panels cut out. I'm at the point where I need to attach the walls to the floor. I'm struggling to figure out how to make the floor and the walls perpendicular (or as close as possible). The main issue is that my garage floor isn't perfectly level. My current plan is to jack up the trailer platform on four corners and make it level using a bubble level. Then just make the walls vertical using a bubble level/plumb bob. However, I'm worried that won't be accurate enough. What does the community think? Any other ideas?

I think most of us woodheads use deadman's braces. Since they're at 90ยบ... the wall get's set perpendicular. They should work for you foamies too. :D

Works for me. Just have to get it close anyway. The bulkhead and end walls will make it straight in the end anyway.

Thanks, sounds like using 90 degree braces would be a good way to go. Obvious in retrospect I suppose.

I'm going to be putting in bulkheads and other structures after the walls are installed.

I did the same with whatever I had laying around, which was foam board.
